...damn. :( I certainly don't want to take a side in the whole Palestine/Israel tug of war, but there is a lot right now that looks as if Israel just waited for anything bigger to happen, so they could go in full force and can say "we didn't start this."

The decision comes as the administration faced bipartisan pressure to block Iran’s access to the money as U.S. officials continue to investigate whether Iran had any direct involvement in Hamas' terrorist attack on Israel. The Biden administration has said the $6 billion in unfrozen Iranian oil assets could be used by Tehran only for humanitarian assistance.

Can’t condone Hamas attack as obviously it is brutal and vicious. Just as the Israelis have been brutal and vicious (for a much longer time). Don’t condone mass violence and civilian casualty ever - that’s a given for a decent human being.

However, there is no way to twist this narrative - unless you are scum media or a Zionist - and say that Israel are in the right. They have been in the wrong for literally dozens of years. They are the oppressors in the situation and Palestine must still be stood with. Perhaps my own background and nationality makes it much easier to resonate with the Palestinians but really this is no different than apartheid in South Africa. Hamas are obviously scum and the attack is horrific but it’s ironic the Israeli outcry when they're the ones who have been doing it for decades to the people of Palestine.

I’m under no illusions that Hamas have not REALLY got the Palestinian people’s best interests at heart but if Israel hadn’t have done what they have over the last 80 years, Hamas never happens. Lest not forget Israel put armed men on this stolen land and struck all of the prior initial blows. As horrendous as the Hamas attack was, that was not the initial blow, not by a long shot. That was the retaliation not what came after from the Israeli side. Free fucking Palestine, it’s 2023.

Thoughts and condolences with civilian casualties on both sides.
