Have to nearly 100% disagree with everything you've written here (which might be a first). The only thing I really can't disagree with is the merchandise sales because I don't really pay attention to much. But you're right that if he pushes a lot of merchandise, that is a checkmark in his favor for his current push.
The reason he sells more merch than most is simple marketing. He is pushed and treated like their top babyface and in the absence of anyone else on Raw who is a major face as Rollins only recently turned and Balor is injured, aside from that his merch is the front page of the store, I know from experience that they had very little AJ or Ellsworth merch at the UK shows but were stocked full of Reigns shirts. (Note: Especially Ellsworth, his shirt was exclusive to the outside truck which was tiny and were extremely limited quantity). He also has a sizeable amount of merch too, they don't only do this with Reigns. Look at the difference between Sasha Banks amount of merch to Alexa Bliss and comparing a face to a face then even someone like Becky Lynch.

lol the Roman reigns project is Vince's ego getting the best of him. He's merely trying to tell/force fans what they will like. He thinks that because Cena was somewhat forced and it worked, he can do something similar with Roman. It's not always like that. Cena, was and always has been a major exception to everything. Sure, he won the US title and didn't win the WWae title right away, but WWE did take a little bit of a gamble with him when they have him the main event at mania and let him end JBL'S streak. After that, he drew ratings, had a natural charisma that people liked, and seemed like a natural face. He's the kind of star that can walk into a building, have half the crowd booing the Shit out of him, and the other half cheering like crazy. He's big, powerful, good on the mic, and insanely hard worker.

With that being said, Vince feels like lightning will strike twice. He thinks that because Cena came up this way, it must work well th reigns, because Reigns has the look and image they want. So they force reigns into a main event. A royal rumble win. A mania win. All sorts of shit. And the fans just don't wanna see the same shit. It's feels too familiar and honestly I don't think reigns is a natural face like Cena is.

All in all, the Roman reigns project is simple: stop force feeding the fans what Vince wants to see. Let him be himself a little more. Let him play who he is: a heel, maybe good guy, bad guy role. Then keep pushing some main events.

Idk there's more to it than that, but I feel like WWE is simply pushing at any cost because Vince needs a new cena. Period. And they want Roman as that guy. The difference is that Cena came up more naturally and was gambled on for the new generation. He worked and was making tons of money. Don't force Roman into those shoes and expect the exact same results.

For example, look at the success of the Wii vs. the Wii U. The Wii makes tons of money. It did this because it was fresh, different, and enjoyable. Much like Cena. The Wii U is basically a Wii just with a little bit of a different twist. It fails and barely makes any money. Seems like a waste.

Cena is the Wii. Roman is the Wii U.

You, sir, have captured it as about accurately as can be.

I'm so glad everyone on this thread has the same ideology on this topic..... which speaks volumes as to how annoyed we are of the multiple attempts at force feeding.

I'm glad the cena comparison came up aswell. I watched religiously back when cena made his smackdown debut. (Don't really remember much from pre-thuganomics) but to me, that's the role that sky rocketed him. He channeled a great size market at the time and it all fell into place and everyone ate it up. I know I did. And it's almost as if he accidentally fell into that role (although having recently watched his debut vs angle....it's so clear that he was destined for super stardom).

When I returned in 2015, and saw the role cena played, I'll admit. .. i rolled my eyes. But now that time has passed and I'd give anything to replace reigns with prime cena.

Again I'll say, I don't dislike roman, just hard to get behind dude. Which sucks because he could be so much more...

lol can't make me happy. Yeah, and my posts usually have bad grammar and punctuation at times cause I rush and write it on my phone. So my apologies for that on my posts, but hopefully I got my point across.

No apologies necessary. I got a good laugh out of it.
