During an interview with Live Audio Wrestling last night, Dwayne "The Rock Johnson said he would return to WWE for a guest-hosting role or to wrestle a match on the sole condition that he can "rip up" the writing for the current television product and tap into the "Attitude Era" with an edgier product.

"I want to use the platform as a host to literally rip things open. There's so much stuff we can do," Johnson told John Pollock. "We're going to create an incredible show, an incredible Raw. I'm doing another movie, but after that, we're going to create something special, unique, something badass for the fans. Talking to Vince (McMahon), whenever that's going to be, we're going to have a great time."

Johnson echoed what he said last week during an interview with ESPN in that he wouldn't rule out actually wrestling, but only if he can turn the product upside down and create a compelling storyline leading to a match.

"I accomplished everything I wanted to accomplish in wrestling, so I wouldn't rule out going back," Johnson said. "If the match was right and we could create something really unique and cool for the fans and for my opponent and for the company, I would do it in a second."

Johnson once again said he has no interest in wrestling John Cena, but talked about what it would take for him to work a program with one of WWE's premiere stars.

"I've never been interested in wrestling John Cena. The guys I wrestled in the past - from Goldberg to Hogan to Austin - were guys who I've really wanted to wrestle. If it can be done creatively but not only that, it's very important if I do back is that the writing has to be ripped open and really be pushed," Johnson said. "I came from a time in the Attitude era where we trail-blazed a lot and were fearless in the things we said and did."

Johnson added: "There are a lot of restrictions now on the product, which by the way, I understand, and I enjoy some of the stuff I see and I know some of the writers and they're challenged every week, but if in fact I do go back, it would be an interesting collision of an Attitude time that I loved and the time now, but I'm sure we can always infuse things to make it work."

God I love you Rock. I wouldn't be interested in working with Cena either. Man this interview really redeemed The Rock in my eyes a lot for some reason. I guess in a sense he is right, he accomplished everything and now I'm unsure if he woulda returned sooner or been more eager to do more promos for the WWE if the product hadn't been turned to shit (he still made appearances in 04... so that leaves about anytime after 05+). But at the same time, he's speaking like a hardass and doesn't want to be incorporated with this watered down shit (100% understandable) yet he's making movies for pre-teens?

^ Those pre-teen movies make Rock more money than the others (see Walking Tall, Rundown, Doom 3, even Be Cool)

Pretty sure Scorpion King was his best selling movie and I thought Walking Tall outsold the rest as well. And do you really think The Rock needs money though? He fucking HOSTED the teen choice awards or w/e bullshit as well.

^he hosted the Nickelodean (SP) awards last year or the year before I think but still I would take a hefty paycheck over a not so hefty paycheck. The Game Plan I believe sold a lot and I think the Tooth Fairy is as well

Doesn't matter. His greatest action movie to date SOLD THE MOST. Fuck the rest, it's clearly not for the money.

I thought the Rock had turn into this kids movie star who probably likes the new Raw. He was my favorite wrestler from the attitude era and I'm glad he wants it back. He wants to change this shit up and Vince let him. Even though it won't happen we can at least dream.

Finally someone who sees the light. I don't want to see The Rock or Austin on a fucking PG show. The attitude era is the best wrestling era period and this PG era is the worst. It really killed me to see Austin throwing up the fists instead of flipping birds. It's not who he is and I don't want to see how lame The Rock would be either.

So Vince wanted the Rock to come back. The Rock says he is open but in order for him to return he wants the freedom to actually be the Rock? Makes sense.

Why would the Rock want to make a comeback when the Rock character in no way could ever be PG rated. The Rock makes a serious point, but I don't know if Vince would turn his product back around just for the Rock to come back. If he was desperate, which he might end up being knowing the way Raw and SD are going, he just might do it. (hopefully)
