It was this month in 1998 where Road Warriors had their first tag team title match against The New Age Outlaws. In the 1998 Royal Rumble. The match was perfect storytelling in the making. It was the Road Warriors who were the ones out for blood after all of the antics that the Outlaws pulled against them for weeks. Even got to the point where one of them had their heads shaved. It was Hawk now to think about it. After getting dominated by DX/Outlaws. Enough was enough. The Road Warriors won their match but by dq. One of my favorite spots in royal rumble history was when Hawk broke the handcuffs from the post to attack Road Dogg and Billie Gun.

Even though they never beat the for the belts. Hawk and Animal still looked strong in winning and the Outlaws looked strong in defeat. It was bout the tag titles but it was mostly revenge call fro the Road Warriors. Great match, very memorable, and a great moment in their careers.

That was not the first match between the two as Outlaws beat LOD to win the belts on Raw in late 1997, and they had a rematch at In Your House: D-Generation X.

Road Warriors are the only team to win a championship before ever competing in match together as they were announced as NWA National Tag Team Champions in their very first match. As much as I love I, personally, do not consider them to be the greatest tag team ever.
