**The WWE and WGN America have announced that they will launch a new prime time series in 2009 entitled get this..."WWE Superstars", the same name of the famous Saturday morning show the company presented in the 80's and 90's

If its more fresh tv every week and not just a recap show I'm all for it.....if it means a 4th brand I'm scared!!!

I'm aware of the previous superstars, what is it? And that's ironic to me how TNA has a "TNA gets a new 1 hr prime times series" and then like a week or less later "WWE gets a new 1hr prime time series."

I doubt it's a 4th brand. However, I wouldn't be surprised if it was something like a 1 hour show every week with all "exclusive" content, which would mean maybe showing "The Dirt Sheet" and "Santinos Casa" etc on there, as well as interviews that aren't seen on tv.

Seems more likey than another recap show, and if it's what I think it is, that'd be pretty cool. I wouldn't make a point of watching it, but it'd be a cool concept.

well the report doesn't say the WWE one is only an hour. 2) they would have been negotiating with WGN long before TNA made there deal public. 3) WWE Superstars (well WWF then) used to air Saturday's at Noon when I was a kid for years probably till about the early 90's. This was all pre Raw & Nitro so back then every match was a Big Name WWE Star vs. Some nobody Jobber. There was another 1 hour show that aired at 1pm on Saturdays on another channel called WWF Challenge. Same idea. But it was different matches. They would promote the next PPV they usually would have an interview show like the Brother Love show or The Heartbreak Hotel, The Kings Court, The Funeral Parlor, etc. And just generally set up the fueds for the next PPV. Once in a blue moon we'd get a ligit WWE Star vs. WWE Star which we take for granted now a days.

Yes I know that report doesn't say its one hour, but too other sources (not including the one you posted) said it was one hour. I'll post if you'd like. Yes I know that WWE have been negotiating with WGN for awhile to get the slot, as TNA had to negotiate too, I was just stating the timing of posting the news of the two is ironic. (to me it is anyway).

And so I'd assume this would be The Dirt Sheet, that Cryme Tyme show (if that's an interview show, I've never watched it), or The Cutting Edge, shows like that. Can't say I Could see an interview segment running for that long, or what type of matches (if any) they'd have, since I didn't witness the previous 1. Should be interesting though.

They wouldn't show the web shows on there. It would defeat the purpose of the web shows.

First, maybe this means dropping a couple of house shows.

I also see this as the new place for what used to be dark matches. The matches that took place at Heat, now will take a place in Superstars. I also see this as the connection link between FCW and WWE (you know, besides ECW :shifty:), in which they can test a gimmick before they actually call somebody up.

I meant instead of them being on the web, they would air them on there. IDK, just the first idea that popped into my head.
I can't see it being a recap show, because
1-They already have a few of those
2-If it was a recap show, it would have a different name. "Superstars" doesn't sound like a recap show.

I still think it would be somewhat like what I said, or, a slim chance, it could be just another version of Heat/Velocity. Just a jobber fest. But I doubt WWE would go down that road again.

well I don't think they would take the shows off the web either though....I'm pretty sure WWE eventually wants everything on the web where they can control there contend and are not santioned by people like the FCC & CRTC.

Which will probably be sooner rather than later, the internet is killing TV ratings.

I was just using those as examples. And The Dirt Sheet at least may become an actual "live" segment. That may have been a test when they did it on ECW a few months back for this very show. The only non internet interview show that I can think of at the moment is The Cutting Edge, and I doubt Edge would go to this week after week or every other week. That would of course depend on when the show will be filmed. Or Strikers Classroom I forgot about that. Or bring in a new interview segment I guess.

I think that would actually work better rather than calling them up to the main roster, having two matches and then not using them anymore. Or them forcing the guys to try and get over. And would work with new gimmics too.

Tape one dark match before Raw and one before SD...then put some promos on the show and make a 1 hour show with 2-3 matches and some promos and you've got yourself a show

When I first read the title I thought it could be a show where each week they profile the lives of 1 or 2 WWE Superstars and tour their houses, see their hobbies, get to know their personal lives, etc.

That's just the first thing that popped into my mind when I saw the title though. An idea like the one Travis presented wouldn't be bad either.

This idea is pretty cool. I would watch it for sure. But wouldn't be like hey there is Stephine when they went to Triple H's house. Anyway what you said and Travis said are would be cool if they did that.
