Randy Orton Says One Of His Finishing Moves Has Been Banned
by
Nick Paglino
May 23, 2012

WWE star Randy Orton has posted the following on Twitter:

Diana Orton @MrsRko4Ever
@RandyOrton You should bring back the punt kick and kick jericho in the head again!

Randy Orton
@RandyOrton .@MrsRko4Ever the punt has been banned. 'Concussional' awareness

Kind of sad, considering that move was one of the key elements of the "Viper" gimmick he's been using the past 4 years or so now.

Not sure why really, i'd say it's a relatively safe move in the hands of a safe worker. Surely there could be countless more moves that could be banned because of possible concussion risks.

Because Randy Orton does shit like bust masks with his feet? Not to mention he connects over glances and the beta ain't here anymore like HBK, HHH, and so in to take that bs while protecting themselves

Was wondering why he stopped using it for a while. The move can be done to where guys can protect themselves but this doesn't surprise me.

Don't mind this at all, hated it as a finisher anyway.

Besides Cody and Ted, what young guys has he hit with it? I think that lies in the problem as no young guys have took it to know how to really protect themselves full speed.

Markism in this thread.

Obviously in character reply from Orton, it's a banned move because it's meant to be made to look like a devestator.

He hit all of Nexus with it when he was feuding with Punk so that kinda goes out the window.

Plus there is literally nothing for the receiving guy to do other than take it and sell it afterwards. It literally all relies on Orton delivering it properly.

I don't see why he would reveal that it's been banned. Half the fun of the punt was watching him battle the voices on whether he should do it or not. He could just continue to threaten to do it, without ever doing it again. Too many of the wrong secrets are revealed with wrestling as of late.

The move itself is pretty lame, but it was still very over as Orton's devastator. Now he has the RKO and nothing else.

There's seriously no other way you could strip the guy down anymore right now without taking away the RKO.

I liked the move with his Viper gimmick a few years ago where he was punting numerous people and putting them out but then it kept being used and guys weren't getting knocked out, just getting up minutes later or returning the next week so it got old fast and wasn't believable anymore. I have no problem with it being banned but is there really a reason to? He never really connected all that much. WWE are getting more weaker each year.
