And on the other side

2. The bill, HB1971, even passed with Republican support. It covers 12 month refills on prescription HRT. Sadly, it does not include testosterone as testosterone is a controlled substance governed by federal regulations.

The US will abandon trying to broker a Russia-Ukraine peace deal within days unless there are clear signs a truce can be reached, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has warned.

"We're not going to continue with this endeavour for weeks and months on end," Rubio said, adding that the US had "other priorities to focus on".

Russia launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022 and has placed a number of conditions on any potential ceasefire.

Despite the Trump administration's initial confidence that it could secure a deal quickly, attempts to reach a full ceasefire have yet to materialise, with Washington blaming both sides.

The acting commissioner of the Internal Revenue Service is being replaced after Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent complained to President Trump that the latest leader of the agency had been installed without his knowledge and at the behest of billionaire Elon Musk, according to five people with knowledge of the change and the sensitive discussions that precipitated it.

Mr. Bessent believed that Mr. Musk had done an end run around him to get Gary Shapley installed as the interim head of the I.R.S., even though the tax collection agency reports to Mr. Bessent. Mr. Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency pushed the appointment through White House channels, but Mr. Bessent was not consulted or asked for his blessing, the people said. They spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss the private conversations.

Mr. Bessent got Mr. Trump’s approval to unwind the decision. The next acting head of the I.R.S., which has seen a conveyor belt of temporary leaders under Mr. Trump, is expected to be the deputy secretary of the Treasury, Michael Faulkender. He would hold the role until the president’s nominee for the permanent role, former congressman Billy Long, if approved by the Senate, takes over.

Senator Chris Van Hollen said on Friday that Kilmar Abrego Garcia, the Maryland man mistakenly deported by the Trump administration, reported having been traumatized during nearly three weeks inside a notorious maximum security prison in El Salvador before being transferred to another detention facility where he remains in isolation.

The Maryland Democrat, who traveled to El Salvador to press for Mr. Abrego Garcia’s release and ended up meeting with him in San Salvador, said he had been transferred nine days ago from the CECOT prison to a lower-level facility in Santa Ana.

“He said that the conditions were better at this new detention center, but he was still in a total blackout,” Mr. Van Hollen said of Mr. Abrego Garcia in an interview before arriving back in Washington from the visit. “No news from the outside world. Can’t speak to anybody at all.”

What a wild time of "oopsies" we're in with this administration

Harvard University received an emailed letter from the Trump administration last Friday that included a series of demands about hiring, admissions and curriculum so onerous that school officials decided they had no choice but to take on the White House.

The university announced its intentions on Monday, setting off a tectonic battle between one of the country’s most prestigious universities and a U.S. president. Then, almost immediately, came a frantic call from a Trump official.

The April 11 letter from the White House’s task force on antisemitism, this official told Harvard, should not have been sent and was “unauthorized,” two people familiar with the matter said.

The letter was sent by the acting general counsel of the Department of Health and Human Services, Sean Keveney, according to three other people, who were briefed on the matter. Mr. Keveney is a member of the antisemitism task force.

Yea... it's especially funny because of those 9 in the SCOTUS, Thomas would be one of the first ones the MAGAts would try to deport. Alito too, probably, with that foreign sounding surname and his Italian roots.

Surprised Kavanaugh and Gorsuch didn't dissent as well though... but maybe just because I'm not as familiar with the SCOTUS proceedings overall. :hmm:
