What's hilarious is Republican presidents in particular have a bit of a history of appropriating songs that contain the complete opposite of the political messaging they're encouraging.

Ronald Reagan using Bruce Springsteen's "Born in the USA" as a campaign song, when it's a pretty scathing critique of the state of America in the aftermath of the Vietnam war, comes to mind first.

We've been receiving some lines from both the Kremlin and the White House in the last hour - following the US and Russian president's phone call.

In short, the Kremlin statement says:
  • Putin supports Trump's idea for Ukraine and Russia to stop attacking energy infrastructure for 30 days
  • Negotiations concerning the safety of shipping in the Black Sea will begin
  • On 19 March, Russia and Ukraine will exchange 175 prisoners of war, and 23 seriously injured Ukrainian soldiers being treated in Russia will be transferred
  • The Kremlin demands no more mobilisation or rearmament from Ukraine during the 30 day ceasefire

Alright folks, feel free to debate it, y'all. Lemme know if you think some folks are in the wrong area or should be adjusted.

Elon Musk's attempt to unilaterally dismantle the U.S. Agency for International Development likely violated the United States Constitution, a federal judge ruled on Tuesday.

U.S. District Judge Theodore Chuang ordered Musk and his Department of Government Efficiency to immediately give USAID employees access to their "email, payment, security notification, and all other electronic systems," and ordered a pause on any efforts to shut down USAID.

Judge Chuang wrote that Musk's takeover "usurped the authority of the public's elected representatives in Congress to make decisions on whether, when, and how to eliminate a federal government agency, and of Officers of the United States duly appointed under the Constitution to exercise the authority entrusted to them."

A federal judge blocked enforcement of President Donald Trump’s executive order banning transgender people from military service on Tuesday, the latest in a string of legal setbacks for his sweeping agenda.

U.S. District Judge Ana Reyes in Washington, D.C., ruled that Trump’s order to exclude transgender troops from military service likely violates their constitutional rights. She was the second judge of the day to rule against the administration, and both rulings came within hours of an extraordinary conflict as Trump called for impeaching a third judge who temporarily blocked deportation flights, drawing a rare rebuke from Chief Justice John Roberts.

Reyes delayed her order until Friday morning to give the administration time to appeal.

That's good... but they are now openly saying they will not comply with judges that oppose what they want, so...

The Department of Defense deemed a story about baseball hero and civil rights leader Jackie Robinson's time in the Army as "DEI" and deleted it.

Attorney General Pam Bondi on Tuesday labeled a recent spate of attacks on Tesla dealerships across the country as acts of “domestic terrorism” directed at Elon Musk, as Trump allies have pressured the Justice Department to take aggressive action.

In recent weeks, vandals in apparent protest of Mr. Musk’s polarizing efforts to drastically shrink the federal government and fire government workers have defaced or destroyed Tesla vehicles and damaged buildings in several cities. No serious injuries have been reported.

Five more vehicles at a Tesla facility in Las Vegas were damaged on Tuesday in what the local authorities said was a targeted attack.

“The swarm of violent attacks on Tesla property is nothing short of domestic terrorism,” Ms. Bondi wrote in a statement. “We will continue investigations that impose severe consequences on those involved in these attacks, including those operating behind the scenes to coordinate and fund these crimes.”

There is no federal domestic terrorism law, so those charged in the attacks would be charged under other federal statutes; Ms. Bondi did not specify what charges could be brought, but she said that if convicted, some of those accused could face sentences of at least five years in prison.

Yea, of course they call that "domestic terrorism", while... you know... January 6 and all that was just people fighting for freedom or whatever.

On a different note... this:

SCOOP—Trump plans to issue an executive order designating fentanyl as a "Weapon of Mass Destruction," per copy of EO reviewed by me. Source at State speculates purpose is to designate cartels as terrorist orgs/justify military ops in Mexico/Canada.

Another step towards making North America a warzone.

The Trump administration is pausing $175 million in federal funding to the University of Pennsylvania over its transgender athlete policies, the White House announced Wednesday in a post on X.

The post said the Ivy League university's policies are "forcing women to compete with men in sports" and ended with the Trump tagline, "Promises made, promises kept."

A spokesperson for the University of Pennsylvania said it is aware of media reports about the suspension, but that the university has not received any official notification or details.

The Federal Reserve left interest rates unchanged on Wednesday for a second straight meeting, as officials stuck to their previous forecast for two more cuts this year despite bracing for higher inflation and slower growth.

The central bank’s decision to hold interest rates at 4.25 percent to 4.5 percent extends a pause that has been in place since January following a series of cuts in late 2024 that lowered borrowing costs by a percentage point.

The Fed voted at an highly uncertain moment for the economy amid an onslaught of policy changes from President Trump since he returned to the White House in January. The upheaval has created complications for the central bank, which is still struggling to stamp out stubbornly high inflation and now must contend with a drastically different set of circumstances as it tries to finish off the job without harming what still appears to be a solid labor market.
