In a statement, Lubbock city and Texas health officials confirmed the hospitalized patient was an unvaccinated school-aged child who died in the last 24 hours.

Unless I’ve misunderstood that clip I’m fine with that in theory as long as it’s executed well. If someone is being committed because they’re a threat to themselves or others there should be an evaluation on whether or not they will continue to pose a threat. Sounds like law-enforcement will have 72 hours and then a judge will have to sign off on it after that. I’ve always said guns aren’t the problem, but we need to be able to screen people who could potentially do harm with them.

Problem I guess comes from the potential for abuse, but if we can work out the kinks in the system, we could potentially save some lives with this.

I’ve always said we need better detection systems and more mental health screenings. Rite security in places for people most at risk, etc..

The problem is too many people don’t want to work towards where we agree and constantly butt heads on where we don’t.
