Mark Robinson, the controversial and socially conservative Republican nominee for governor of North Carolina, made a series of inflammatory comments on a pornography website’s message board more than a decade ago, in which he referred to himself as a “black NAZI!” and expressed support for reinstating slavery, a CNN KFile investigation found.

Despite a recent history of anti-transgender rhetoric, Robinson said he enjoyed watching transgender pornography, a review of archived messages found in which he also referred to himself as a “perv.”

The comments, which Robinson denies making, predate his entry into politics and current stint as North Carolina’s lieutenant governor. They were made under a username that CNN was able to identify as Robinson by matching a litany of biographical details and a shared email address between the two.

Kentucky judge shot, killed in his chambers; sheriff charged with murder

A Kentucky sheriff is charged with the murder of a district court judge.

According to Kentucky State Police, at around 2:55 Thursday afternoon, they received a 9-1-1 call from the Letcher County Courthouse in reference to shots being fired from inside the building.

Several law enforcement agencies and emergency medical services responded to the scene and located District Judge Kevin Mullins, 54, with multiple gunshot wounds.

KSP says lifesaving measures were attempted but unsuccessful.

Mullins was pronounced dead on scene by the Letcher County Coroner’s Office.

The Georgia State Election Board approved a rule Friday requiring counties in the critical presidential battleground to hand-count all ballots this year, potentially upending the November election by delaying reporting of results by weeks if not months.

The change was spearheaded by a pro-Trump majority that has enacted a series of changes to the state’s election rules in recent weeks and approved the hand-count requirement despite a string of public commenters who begged them not to. Critics included democracy advocates who accused the board of intentionally injecting chaos and uncertainty into the presidential contest, as well as election supervisors and poll workers who said hand counts would take too long, cost money and almost certainly produce counting errors. The office of the Republican state attorney general, which is responsible for advising the board, wrote in an opinion that the change was unlawful.

The board voted 3-2 to approve the measure, which would require the hand count in addition to the customary machine count in each precinct. The rule requires the hand count to take place the night of the November election or the next day. But dozens of election officials said that would be physically impossible in all but the smallest counties. Many also said in public comments Friday that it is far too late in the year to adopt new procedures for which their staffs have not been trained and for which they have no funds.

It makes my Country looking like idiots now the grown ups have entered. We have a difficult road ahead with the countries finances but if anyone can get the country going gain it's The Labour Party we did it 97-2010. I've read history for years now and only two labour Chancellors have balanced the countries finances and it wasn't Gordon Brown the longest serving chancellor in modern uk times. They were Sir Stafford Cripps 1949 just four years after very costly war. The other was Lord Roy Jenkins who in 1969 done it.

We've changed the Party, we aren't a protest party headed by a communist Corbyn but lead by a modern Sir Keir Starmer. He has been threw straight into the deep end and will always be critized but we have too be real we won because people were sick of the conservatives and Nigel Farge only started his party this year. The next election will be the most telling in the UK for years. Farage got four million votes and four seats. This government has to be moderate but radical at the same time and it needs to keep the message going ,country first party second. He's bringing in a Hillsborough Law and that's labour at its best.

Yes we are going to be chastised by the right wing press but it's water off a ducks back . This government gives me hope and renewal that we can get our country back on a very sustained footing. We needed to put railways into public ownership as the prices some have are disgrace.

Starmer's speech I'm watching live is very inspiring and he sounds very good . No lies but the truth . We need National Renewal ASAP. We need hope and pride back if that happens we stand a good chance of getting back on firmer ground. The UK needs to be so radical in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. If we all work for the same goals there's no stopping us.

The US Justice Department filed a lawsuit Tuesday accusing Visa of illegally monopolizing the debit card market.

For more than a decade, the department alleges, Visa has abused its dominant positionin the debit card market to force businesses to use Visa’s network instead of competitors’, and to stop new alternatives from entering the market.

“We allege that Visa has unlawfully amassed the power to extract fees that far exceed what it could charge in a competitive market,” Attorney General Merrick Garland said in a statement. “Merchants and banks pass along those costs to consumers, either by raising prices or reducing quality or service. As a result, Visa’s unlawful conduct affects not just the price of one thing – but the price of nearly everything.”

The House on Wednesday approved a three-month government funding bill to avoid an end-of-the-month shutdown, sending the package to the Senate for consideration.

The chamber cleared the legislation — which would fund the government at current levels until Dec. 20 — in an 341-82 vote, including support from 209 Democrats and 132 Republicans. Eighty-two GOP lawmakers voted against the measure.

The Senate is expected to pass the stopgap Wednesday night then dispatch it to President Biden’s desk for his signature ahead of the Sept. 30 shutdown deadline.
