Only TikTokers think it didn't exist, but I'd also probably give a more nuanced view on history and the fallibility of sources.

One of the first things I'd teach my students is a group activity, "write something about our current year. Make it three paragraphs, and it doesn't need to be super detailed."

Then, after they do their assignment , and I'd take all of their papers and show them off. I'd rip half of them, declaring, "These documents burned in a fire." I'd crumple a few more, "these were lost in a flood." Tear up a few more, "these were deemed negative propaganda by the government."

Point being, I'd want to teach students the importance of understanding sources and why investigating such sources are important to understanding history itself.
