I know what you are saying but punishing every Russian sports people causes them to be angry at their government n creates more internal pressure .

It sucks I know, but the alternative to these types of sanctions is more death, sadly

Yeah it should only be for Olympic type sports where the country is represented IMO, if its a Russian athlete fighting in UFC, playing tennis, etc. solo then they shouldn't be punished

Exactly. It's not optimal and in a perfect world you only punish those who are complicit. However Putin is obviously too cowardly to duel Ukraine 1v1

Yeah, that's the part about banning Russian athletes from competing in international events. I hate to punish the people, especially athletes who are just following their passions in sport (minus those involved in doping scandals, but different talk) but you need to punish Russia in some way and preventing them from competing in these high profile events is one of them or hosting large international events. Though banning all Russian athletes currently in North America is logistically impossible, doing that is one way. Plus I feel as though there can be safety concerns for the athletes themselves by either going to a country actively engaged in war, or for the Russian athletes heading abroad due to high tensions and hostility. Like Russia won't be competing in the World Hockey Championships, World Juniors, or even hosting them when they come and I feel for the athletes, especially the younger Russians in the World Juniors some of which aren't technically old enough to be serving in the war to be punished, but it is out of their control.

There's a bunch of people who are really mad at Alexander Ovechkin for not speaking out against Putin, but folks also gotta realize, he's probably the highest-profile hockey player in world history, and his family *lives* in Russia. I dunno man.

Investigations have started in other counties though and people are being pulled off their current child abuse cases to allocate resources to file suits against trans parents. What an absolute joke of a state, probably hoping Ukraine distracts everyone while they take kids from their parents
