They don't have a problem with the drug itself. They're more worried that Marijuana would be the users' gateway to the next drug, or smoke Marijuana as if its a drug they use everyday. They're not trying to outlaw it because of people like YOU. They are trying to save this from drug users, the OD types. This is in Atlanta. I live next door to them; Alabama. In Alabama, the drug is outlawed, because there is a YUGE drug population here. For example, the street I lived on has a gun and drug issue, that you hear about it almost on a weekly or bi-monthly basis.GOP ponders marijuana legalization bill

This is one of the reasons I have a problem with the Republican Party. Marijuana would be a HUGE benefit to be legalized and taxed. It’s safer than a lot of bullshit that’s legal, safer than some of the bullshit medicine out there for people as well. Would do wonders for people with all types of medical problems. Surely people like me who suffer from anxiety and depression. The fact that I have to illegally medicate myself because these assholes are basically taking money from people who want to make sure it stays illegal is sickening. They care more about lining their pockets than the people.
Most people in Atlanta and Alabama are black folks. There are white people, but this is where the poor live. Sad but true.
One last point: To be fair, the Republicans in this area is operating under the mindset of 1980's. Alabama and Atlanta are small towns. Very undeveloped. The Republicans in California are used to legalized Marijuana. That's where the issue lies. Its a different worldview.
I used to live in California, and am currently living in Alabama, so I know the difference.
