Mmm, I start on Monday and things are now super serial for me. I'm starting VCE as I'm in my second last year of high school, which means this now counts. It fucking sucks too.

At the end of last year, we had 'Orientation Week' to break us into Year 11. Basically, we were in Year 11 for a week and did all the work. We also got loaded up with homework. Most of it I've had no problem with as it was nice and quick. My chemistry homework really makes me regret doing it though.

Basically what happened was that I wanted to do unit 3 + 4 psychology. Which means I'd get a Year 12 subject knocked over in Year 11, adding to my overall score and thus allowing me to get into a course of my choice easier in uni. Problem is my student co-ordinators didn't agree with this choice. Instead, they told me I should do chem. Basically, I was forced to, because they said I could 'do better than psych'. Super duper. =/

Chem was the only unit I was interested in in science last year, but I still really don't wanna do it. My science grades last year were 7.5 and 6 over the two semesters (out of ten). My teacher never showed up and I never learnt anything in it last year. Now I have to do chem? Bleh.

Chem is a shitload of work too. Like I said, most of my homework was easy and quick. Chem was not. We had to basically do 100 questions, write up a full prac report and make ourselves a glossary (or whatever) of all the keywords from the questions we had done. Basically, fifty words.

I finally finished the hw yesterday (wewt), so now I have it easy up until school. So yeah, not looking forward to it.

ANyway, enough of my rambling. Anyone else entering Year 11 (I know Kiz is)? If so, what subjects are you doing? I've got:

Maths methods
General maths
Chemistry
English
Literature
Legal Studies

Geometry gets it's own subject over there? It's just one of the units here in maths.

Fuck your year looks good. I'd find dairy science boring as all shit though. Apart from that it looks pretty good.

Essays are easy, imo. That's why I like English.

I, like James start school again on Monday and I will officially be a year 10 student, the year were it gets a tad more serious. (According to my last year coordinator)

Anyway the subjects I am doing. Well for year 10 at my school we get to choose what maths we are doing, Maths A (harder maths) and Maths B (easier maths)
We also got to choose what science (Human science, so phsychology, biology) and physicial science (Chemistry and Physics)

I am doing:

English (compulsary)
Maths A
Human Science
Religion (compulsary)
HPE (Health and Physical education, compulsary)
Civics and Citizenship (compulsary)
Information technology
Media studies

we actually got one less choice this year cause of Civics, originally I was gonna do Literature (as my last year English teacher suggested), but then we were told we had to drop back one subject, and I couldn't drop back media (we had to do one "arts" subject, and no way am I gonna do creative arts or graphics) and I didn't wanna drop back Info Tech so yea...

and why I am doing maths A and not Maths B I have no idea, maths is not my strongest subject. But hey, I can improve right??

I also think the fact we have to do religion studies is bullshit. I know, I go to a catholic school, but can't it just be an elective? Most parents would probably make their kids do it anyway...

Lol The guy who teaches Dairy Science also teaches Power Mechanics and Ag Shop, and he is pretty much the easiest going guy I ever had, he is nice, swears constantly and hardly ever makes us do any in class work, thats why I took it. Also one day this year we waited 40 minutes (our classes are 45 minutes each) for him to come into the room, he was busy in his office and just left us do whatever we want. As for the essays, yeah there all goona be persausive so I just have to say my opinion and get people to agree... and for the nerd comment... AM NOT

Year 10 is a bludge, Shane. I completely coasted through the whole year and got into all the good subjects (as well as being forced into doing one I didn't want to >_>). So yeah, your co-ordinator is bullshitting. You won't get serious until Year 11 when VCE comes into things.

As far as the maths goes, you shouldn't have a problem, as it was so fucking easy. My class was full of duds though, so it was rly funny too.

Teacher: 8 squared?

Kid: 16?

Me: lolololololololololololololololololololololololol

Theres nothing wrong with being a nerd, well it depends on what TYPE of nerd you are.

Theres three types of nerds:

wannabe nerds (dorks): people who act smart, but really arent. Also have no friends except for fellow dorks.
Average nerds: Pretty Smart and a little "nerdy" but have friends and a sense of humour (nothing wrong with being this type of nerd)
Nerdy Nerds: TOO smart, use words that most the population don't understand, and have no sense of humour and no friends except for fellow nerds. Spend all their hours outside school studying, never get fresh air and hang around people unless its for studying.

I just wonder if HS over there is easier than it over here... We get to pick what classes we take after we get the mandatory ones done

We need two years of science for diploma
2 years of math for diploma
3.5 years of Social Studies for diploma (my favorite subject)
4 years of English
2 years of Foreign Language to get into college here (I didn't have to take any classes since I am Bilingual)
3 Phy Ed Credits (thats like 1.5 years)
.5 year of Consumers and Careers (gay buisness class I just finished)
.5 year of Health (aced it last year)
Than from there you can elect these classes

Like 20 diff shops
like 10 diff ag classes
like 5 diff art classes
More Buisness classes
another .5 year of Phy Ed if you want
Like a bunch of diff Home Ec classes/cooking

I have no idea how to describe our schooling system properly.

In Year 11, we get to pick all of our subjects except English, which is mandatory.

Like what do you normally get for homework per night like hours/minutes on average? And how often do you take tests?

We get about 45 minutes a homework per night max

We get a test like once every month and a half here

Also next year will be great since I got all them classes and will have my DRIVERS LISCENCE Which means my parents will let me go out to partys with friends and drink on nights other than just gay homecoming and prom, its goona be tits

EDIT:It seems like everything is flipped in our school and your aussie schools. We basically have all our hard and gay classes Freshman (grade 9) and sophmore (grade 10) year and then we get to pick what we want for the most part.
