You never truly think about it when these great drivers are winning all the time, but a few of them just one day stop... Jimmie Johnson last won in 2017, and raced full time until the end of 2020..Richard Petty gets his last in 1984 and retired at the end of 1992.

Then you got people like Jeff Gordon who slowed down on wins, but still could find his way to victory lane. His last full time season he didn't win in was 2010, and he retired after 2015. Harvick didn't win in 2021, but won twice in 2022, and nine times in 2020, sadly none in his final season but he stayed competitive til the end. Dale Earnhardt struggled some but even up til his unfortunate death, he was getting some wins.

Then folks like Tony Stewart went winless in 2 of his last 3 seasons, and only a total of 2 wins in final 4 seasons. But he had a lot of things going on in that time. So kinda understandable why he wasn't as good at the end. But he's one of the best just pure racers ever. Wins in pretty much every type of race car he's ever been in.

Kyle might find his way back one day, surely at a Daytona or Talladega.

I had a similar conversation with my wife last night, specifically about DW and Petty. We were watching the new Dale documentary on Prime, and the conversation went there. It really is wild how guys just...stop winning, but it's not really a new thing.

Yeah DW is another one. It really is wild, people see these drives just always are winning, would be one of the betting odds favorites. Then just out of nowhere it stops. It's why honestly sometimes I don't blame drivers for celebrating a win really hard, because it could very well be the last time you get one.

Absolutely. Thank about it. Dale won his 7th championship in 1994. At that point, everyone believed that he was a lock to pass Petty. He raced through 2000 and never got another one. I'd act a fool if I won a race, guaranteed lol

He also finished runner-up to Bobby Labonte that year too.
