Justin Jefferson Shows Off Vikings Defeat Packers 34-37 Inside their home stadium, The Minnesota Vikings had a coming-out party for rookie wide receiver Justin Jefferson as he dominated Green Bay's defense to haul in three touchdowns from quarterback Kirk Cousins. Cousins was nearly perfect despite two fourth-quarter interceptions, one of which led to a pick-6 that tied the game at 34-34; Cousins went 26/37 for 357 Yards, four touchdowns, and the two interceptions mentioned. Both Justin Jefferson and Adam Thielen proved to be dominant receivers for Cousins as both went for over 100+ yards receiving. On the ground, recent signing Devonta Freeman also had a heck of a game, rushing 31 times for 153 yards; Freeman was a major part of Minnesota winning the game, according to head coach Mike Zimmer: "Y'know, when Dalvin was traded right before pre-season, we were kinda at a loss of words to see such a good player go, but I think [Freeman] has come in here and filled in those shoes rather well; he's an experienced veteran and he's good on his feet. I think Minnesota is a good place for him, he fits our scheme so well, and he's still relatively young." Defensively, Green Bay quarterback Aaron Rodgers had few answers for the Minnesota defense as he threw two major interceptions and was sacked four times, twice by Tim Jernigan and another two times by Danielle Hunter. Trae Waynes, who signed with Minnesota last week, netted an interception on Rodgers, as well as Eric Kendricks hauling another one in too. Mike Zimmer had good things to say about Waynes, "He does his job and that's the most we can ask of him. He's a good cornerback and we're glad he decided to sign back with us. We're looking to do great things with him this season." Dan Bailey was perfect on all three of his field-goal attempts, including the game-winner. He was also 4/4 on extra points, netting the team 13 points that helped Minnesota win against the Packers. Mike Zimmer mentioned about Bailey, "He's started to find his groove here. At one time he was an excellent kicker and last year he had a few troubles here and there; this year we've adjusted and so far he's been very good." This was the first regular-season win for the new Anderson Era of Vikings football, as Scott Anderson came under the ownership of the team in August of 2020, before the beginning of the new season. Minnesota is now 1-0 and will be facing off against the Indianapolis Colts next week.
