Week 10-Week 13

The second portion of the regular season would start with another win for the Raiders (Week 10), taking them to 8-1 for the year meaning that Stoop had successfully guiders the Raiders to three positive season in a row. It would also be a great game for Brycen Hopkins who would score four receiving touchdowns and very much proving to the entire National Football League that he was the most versatile Tight End in the league. Comparrisons with Gronkowski have been previously made, but with the way thing were going he seemed on target to match the former Patriots record of 17 TDs in one season.

Week 11 would be a cagier affair as the Raiders would travel to New York to play the Giants. It would also be hyped up as a battle of two veteran QBs, Rodgers vs. Rivers with much attention coming on the basis that both men had arguably lost their spots to younger options but no found themselves playing for two team on the up.

The match would be a hard fought contest which would see Linebacker Brandon Marshall stretchered off the field with a dislocated knee (which would put him out for six weeks) and be a game in which the score would remain incredibly close throughout the game with only three touchdown being scored. Brycen Hopkins would score again from Rodgers, whilst Josh Jacobs would score a running play. Ultimately the Raiders would end up taking the W, but both sets of fans were left with the viewpoint that both Rodgers and Rivers clearly still had a good few amount of years in them even if they were visibly on the decline.

The Las Vegas Raiders under Stoop's leadership would find themselves playing their favourite team to beat in Week 12, the Denver Broncos. And for all you Raider fans that have jumped on the Stoop Bandwagon you will be pleased to know that the former Kentucky Wildcat Coach maintained his 100% record over the Broncos taking his record over the AFC West Rival to 6-0. Aaron Rodgers would throw six touchdown for the game to Jeudy x1, Moreau x1, Hopkins x1 and Brown x3 in a game that would see Rodgers throw his 450th Passing Touchdown for his career. Raiders Safety Abrams would shine in this game though, with 12 Tackles and 1 Sack that would result in him in the AFC Defensive Player of the week.

Week 13 would force the Raiders to play a second AFC West Division rival two week in a row, this time against the Kansas Chiefs with both sides having a more competitive result in matches with Stoop going into the game 2-3 against the Chiefs. With this particular encounter being much closer than the previous two encounters between both team. It was a game where the Raiders saw Tyrell Williams score early with a reception, but from that point onwards they were forced to keep the ball on the group as the aerial routes seemed to be blocked on every attempt. Luckily, Josh Jacobs has proven himself more than capable and score a hat trick of rushing touchdowns. Nonetheless the Raiders found themselves in a tough spot with very little time on the clock, with the Chief leading 32-28 with less than a minute on the clock. This unfortunately was not a scenario which Stoops' Raiders not used too, as much as they would clearly like to stop find themselves in this position there experience and survival instincts pulled through for them once again as Tyrell Williams would make his second receiving touchdown of the game with just 0:19 left of Q4 with the Raiders completing another Harry Houdini escape to claim the game and move their record to 11-1 for the season.

Despite Mark Stoop looking to have his best season so far as the Raiders Head Coach, Stoop would remain serious and make it extremely clear that winning enough games in the regular season meant absolutely nothing if you didn't proceed to advance during the playoffs and that he still had nightmares in regards to the Raiders having lost last season AFC Championship game. He would make it clear that there was no time for the team to be complacent and that he expected all his player to continue to stay fit and look after themselves, because he couldn't afford for anyone to get injured ahead of the playoffs. Karl Joseph (Strong Safety) would be revealed as the Raiders MVP for the third quarter with the reasoning behind his nomination seeming to be the fact that he currently had 72 Tackles for the season and was proving to be one of the most consistent players on the Raider's defence. This would also mean that the Raider's D-Line was really being given recognition from the fans, as they were being viewed as the main reason behind Las Vegas' success.

Week 14-Week 17

The Raiders would play their final AFC West division game of the regular season, by visiting San Antonio for the first time (Week 14) it what would prove to be a traditional close quarters game between two classic rivals, and despite the Express having been rebranded they would never fully be able to escape their history as the Chargers. The encounter would see both team's defensive game would be at its very best, with the the first half end with the Express having a 6-0 lead only managing to score two field goals as both sides found themselves in a state of gridlock. The deadlock would continue into the third quarter as neither team would manage to claim any points on the board. The Express would extend their lead at the start of Q4 by firing in another field goal taking their lead to 9-0 and look on course for the a total shut out. With three minutes left on the clock Jerry Jeudy would pluck the ball out of the air despite being surrounded by three defenders and claim an important touchdown for the Raiders and with the PAT converted the Raiders would find themselves down by two points with very little time left on the clock.

Jarno Stormberd would scream from the sidelines not to attempt the onside kick and instead the Raiders would have to do their best to contain the Express instead and hope for a turnover. The Express would do their best to force the clock to run, only for Hunter Renfrow to catch a punt return and manage to make it make to the Raiders 41 yard line. Las Vegas would continue to march forward, and utilising their final timeout of the game would leave Jonathan Song in 49 yards out needing a field goal to win the game. The kick would seem short because of the strong wind and connect with the crossbar, but by some miracle would trickle over to give the Raiders the three points and give them the game victory with just six seconds to spare.

This would result would take the Raiders to 12-1 for the season with the possibility of the Raiders needing just one more win to have their their best regular season finish (in the sixteen game regular season era). Although nothing was officially confirmed, the Raiders seemed to effectively met Stoops' season goal of securing a playoff spot.

The Raiders would play the Dallas Cowboys for the first time since Stoops' employment (Week 15), but would also go into the game knowing that they hadn't beaten the Cowboys since 2005 and when the final whistle was blown this record would remain intact as the Raiders would suffered their second loss of the season with only Hopkins and Jacobs managing to score points for Las Vegas in what was quite a close scoring game, but seemingly one that the Cowboys never looked like losing. However, because the Broncos would lose to the Chiefs 14-24 which would mean that despite the Raiders having lost, by way of the Broncos failing to beat the Chiefs they couldn't be caught. The Raiders had now sealed #1 spot in the AFC West for the second season in a row and now had the knowledge that their first playoff fixture would take place in the Divisional Round.

The Raiders were scheduled for another game at home and would play host to the Bengals (Week 16) having beaten the Cincinnati team previously in 2019 in a tight game, although this encounter would be even closer. The Raiders would start incredibly positively and halfway through Q2 found themselves leading 21-0 with a rushing TD for Josh Jacobs plus receiving touchdowns from Hopkins and Brown. The Bengals would turn up the heat though they would score a touchdown of their own at the end of Q2. The third quarter would be scoreless, but Cincinnati would make three scores in the fourth quarter taking a lead of 28-21 and having scored four touchdown without reply. As the Raiders attempted to break through the wall, they would be roadblocked and they would rely on Song to kick a field goal to bring Las Vegas within touching distance (28-23). In another late play in the game Jalen Richard would make an outstanding run with 0:24 left on the clock to claim a winning score for the game.

This would result in the Raiders going 13-2 for the season, but Antonio Brown's touchdown would end up being his 75th career touchdown.

The final game of the regular season (Week 17) would see the Raiders play holts to the Indianapolis Colts (whom had won the 2019 & 2020 editions of the Super Bowl). Stoop had never been able to beat the Colts during his tenure with the Raiders having lost in Week 4 of the 2019 season in what had been Stoops first loss on the road in his NFL Career. The Colts were also the team that had beaten the Raiders in last year's AFC Championship so going into this game the Colts seemed to have the edge. Rather than rest players, the Stoop made it clear that winning this game was vital for the team's confidence. However, for the Colts this was a must win game and they knew that if they didn't win today they would not reach the playoffs and thus their two year reign as Super Bowl champions would come to an end.

The game itself would be close to begin with with the score after the first quarter being 7 points apiece that had featured Brycen Hopkins score his 25th career receiving touchdown in only his second season in the big leagues. Unfortunately for the Raiders they would be allowed to score a single point from then onwards. The Colts would go on to score three more TDs to claim the W and do what was needed to secure a vital wildcard playoff spot.

To make matter worse the Raiders would suffer two devastating injuries. Jalen Richards (FB) would exit the field with a leg injury and it would be confirmed after the game that he wouldn't return until after the playoffs. This would result in Stoop and Stormberd having to rely on their 2021 Draft Picks for the first time in the year, with backup Full Back Derek Kendrick finding out he would make his first official Raiders start in the Divisional Round. Kendrick involvement showed the massive difference between the 2020 Draft Class and the 2021 Draft Class present in the Raiders setup.

3859.jpg

The more worrying news came about after the game that Aaron Rodgers had broken his thumb and would be out of action for four weeks. This would result in two things. The first that Rodgers season was all but over, unless the Raiders manage to reach Super Bowl LVI. The second was that Tyree Jackson would now find himself with a massive amount of pressure on his shoulders, having to fill in for someone with incredibly big shoes and the man that would 100% become the scapegoat if the Raiders fall short again this season.

Brycen Hopkins would be awarded the MVP for the fourth 1/4 of the season after ending the 2021 regular season as the man with the most receiving touchdown for the season. With 16 TDs for the season, Hopkins would find himself just one score from equally Gronkowski 2011 Record of 17 Touchdown for a TE in one season. An analyst on the basis that Hopkins scored 25 touchdown in two season, came up with a trajectory that Hopkins could potentially become the highest scoring Tight End in history if he had an active scoring career for the next ten years. However, skeptics would make the point that having one good season didn't mean that Hopkins was suddenly going to become the next Antonio Gates.

As the Wildcard Weekend panned out the Las Vegas Raiders would discover that they would be playing their long standing rivals the Denver Broncos, whilst the New York Jets would be travelling to Jacksonville.

aoKqci4.png

There can be no denying how hype the whole city of Las Vegas seemed to be in the build up to hosting the Broncos. With Stoop having never lost to the Broncos and holding a six game winning streak, for many fans they felt that this game would be a walk in the park and that the contest would be nothing other than a practise session to prepare the Raiders for the AFC Championship. Well that might have been the case if Aaron Rodgers wasn't currently injured and the responsibility of the entire franchise was now being carried on 2nd string QB Tyree Jackson's shoulders. If Jackson was suffering from any nerves he didn't show it as he would throw a passing touchdown to Antonio Brown in the first quarter only for Josh Jacobs to step up to the plate and rush over the white line to give the Raiders a 14-0 lead at the end of Q1. In the second quarter as the Broncos seemed determined to break through the Las Vegas lines they were held back and forced to take a field goal to at least get some points on the board, only for the attempt to block and fumble to be recovered by Vontaze Burfict who would return the ball for 76 yards scoring defensive TD which would see the the Raiders 21-0 at the halfway point.

The second half was a lower scoring affair with the Broncos only manage to score with a field goal to score just once in the game, but their defence didn't give up and the Raiders would only claim two more field goals themselves result in the Raiders winning the game 3-27. The Raiders who were already carrying major injuries would find out that 2020 3rd Round Pick Kyle Dugger (SS) had broken his Tibia and would be out of action for 47 weeks, whilst key defensive lineman Clelin Ferrel had also hurt his hip and would be out for 7 weeks meaning that both men would have to watch the rest of the playoffs from the stands.

d4gfec1immfdwexcwo7y

Tyree Jackson would find himself receiving high praise from Stoops' assistant Jarno Stormberd. Stormberd would make it clear that Jackson had inherited a very difficult job but that the entire coaching staff was impressed with 15/20 pass completion for 222 yards which had resulted in the Antonio Brown touchdown. It would be made clear though that as QB Jackson had marshalled the rest of the offensive line, and had showed leadership when it truly mattered and that Jackson would have to do the same next week whether the Raiders found themselves playing the Jets or the Jaguars in the AFC Championship game.

Results From The Divisional Round:

Carolina Panthers 20 - 23 Chicago Bears

New York Jets 35 - 17 Jacksonville Jaguars

Seattle Seahawks 24 - 31 Dallas Cowboys

48eYjbC.png

The Raiders would find themselves in the AFC Championship for the second year in a row, although this time round they would find themselves facing the New York Jets, a game in which both franchise had been going through a period of resurgence in the past couple of seasons. What made this fixture even more interesting as that the NFC Championship game had already been played with the Dallas Cowboys having lost 31 -34 to the Chicago Bears earlier on in the day. This meant that the Raiders and Jets were already aware that it would be the Bears that would be waiting for them in Super Bowl LVI at the SoFi Stadium (the home ground of the LA Rams). With Aaron Rodgers not expected to be on the brink of fitness next week, it would mean that Tyree Jackson would find himself having to steer the ship for the second time in as many weeks.

The game would start with the Jets scoring from their first drive only to further embarrass Jackson by one of the Jets Cornerbacks picking the ball and after making the interception running the whole distance of the field to score a second touchdown and give the Jets a 14-0 lead. Jackson though was put in a position where he either had to sink or swim, and he chose the second as he would go onto throw to Antonio Brown seeming to have an understanding the movement of the senior Wide Receiver leading to the score being 14-7 at the end of Q1. In the second quarter Jackson had clearly grown in confidence as he would find Brown for a second time that would bring the scores level, only for the half to end with Jonathan Song to convert a field goal giving the Raiders a narrow 14-17 lead going into halftime.

Q3 would be scoreless although the latter portion would see the Raiders pushing to break the Jets line, only be left with a 4th & 7 on the Jets 35 yard line. This would result in the fourth quarter beginning with Jonathan Song kicking his second FG of the game taking the score to 14-20 with the entirety of Q4 still to play. The Jets would make a comeback in the latter portions of the quarter scoring a rushing touchdown and reclaiming the lead at 21-17 with just four minutes left on the clock. The Raiders would never given up though and seemed rather determined to not repeat history, as they would force themselves through Jets territory only for Jackson to scramble out of the pocket and break a tackle and slot a pass to Tyrell Williams who would sprint down the sideline and score a career changing touchdown. It would be the last point scored in the game and mean that the Raiders had won the game 21-27 and would therefore be advancing to the Super Bowl LVI.

During the Pro Bowl weekend Aaron Rodgers would clear for training and the medical staff would make it clear that the Raiders' starting QB would be cleared to compete at next week's Super Bowl encounter with the Chicago Bears. The official NFL Award would be announced, with Rodgers finding himself finishing in 2nd place for the NFL Most Valuable Player (with his playoff injury seemingly to have had an influence on the outcome) and Chicago's Mitch Trubisky (who had been the second overall pick in 2017) found himself being crowned the NFL MVP. Whilst Mark Stoop would find himself being named the NFL Coach of the Year for the second year running with his 13-3 record in the regular season very much backing up the reason for him winning the accolade. He would become the first Head Coach to win the award two years since 1982-1983 where Redskins HC Joe Gibbs had completed the double. This would mean he had joined Joe Gibbs, Don Shula and Allie Sherman as only the fourth man to win the award twice in a row.

images

Mark Stoop would make it clear when talking to the press that winning the AFC Championship and claiming the Lamar Hunt Trophy for the Las Vegas Raiders was an extremely important moment for the franchise, and that he was incredibly pleased with the way in which the team had performed in through periods of adversity where the team had been hit by injuries and second string players had been required to step up to the mark and prove to everyone why they deserved to wear the Raiders' jersey. Stoop would make it clear that when he had been brought in at the start of 2019 season, it had been with a five year plan in mind with the goal of that plan to reach Super Bowl LVIII in 2023 at the Superdome in Louisiana and that never in his wildest dream had he thought his team would achieve that goal in just three seasons.

Stoop would make the point though that winning the AFC Championship in his mind was the equivalent to winning the 2019 Citrus Bowl with the Wildcats during his last season working for the University of Kentucky. He would make it clear that this wasn't meant to be seen a disrespect to the memory of Lamar Hunt, but rather winning the AFC Championship wasn't the light at the end of the tunnel. And that their were two honours that a Head Coach in this sport could win that would confirm they had done it. The College Football Playoff National Championship and the Super Bowl, although Stoop would make it clear that the politics at college level often meant that some of the best college players would never have a chance to even get close to the National Championship. The Super Bowl however was something that was attainable by any player that was fortunate to get drafted or signed up as a free agent after college.

Stoop would make it clear that despite the Las Vegas Raiders being two years ahead of schedule, if they were to lose to the the Bears next weekend he would struggle to not see the season as a complete failure. Stoop would make the point that it would be better to fail to scale the matter, because you were lacking some of the tools needed to advance. Rather than reaching the top of the mountain, only to witness another person put their flag into the summit first.

When Stoop was asked if he was happier to be playing the Bears, considering the Raiders had lost to the Cowboys during Week 15 of the regular season Stoop would giving a confused face to the reporter. Stoop would make it clear that if a team was going to win the Super Bowl then they wanted to do it against the best team from the NFC, just like the winner of the NFC Championship wanted to play the best team from the AFC so they could legitimise their victory. When Stoop was asked to explain what he meant, Stoop would smile and say that the Denver Broncos and Dallas Cowboys had one thing in common and that is that "their fans absolutely suck!" The reasoning for Stoop to jab at the Cowboys seemed out of the blue, although it was no surprise he happy to mock the Broncos considering his 7-0 winning record over the Denver outfit.

Season 1 the differential was -11, Season 2 was +200 and Season 3 was 137. However Season Two was all about scoring points with no ability to defend. For season three if you ignore the rampant fucking I gave the Broncos in Week 1 (80-3) so -77 off the differential it 60, so that freak game skewered it completely. Maths over.

I am just in shock that Tyree Jackson (68 Rating) managed to not ruin my entire season in the divisional and afc championship - I would have been pissed off. Although not with Jackson, but rather Madden for 'injuring' Rodgers.

Super Bowl LVI from the SoFi Stadium, Los Angeles would prove to be an encounter between the Bears and the Raiders that would not disappoint. The game would begin with Josh Jacob of the Raiders who would score the opening touchdown of the game at the start of the first quarter. The early score would send the crown in the SoFi into a form of euphoria as a large number of the Raider fans who had been living in Oakland had turn up to watch what felt like their team returning as close to home as was possible. This feeling would soon pass though as Anthony Miller would catch from a Trubisky throw which would result in the score being tied up at 7-7. This would look to be be the closing score at the end of Q1, only for Jonathan Song to kick a Field Goal from 60 yards out giving the Raiders the tiniest advantage of 10-7 at the end of the quarter.

The Raiders though would carry on in the second quarter just as they had started in the first, as Josh Jacobs would score his second rushing touchdown of the game extending the Raiders lead to 17-7. The ten point advantage wouldn't last long however, as Aaron Rodgers would thrown an interception to LeRon McCoy (CB) who would proceed to run 40 yards down the field and score a potentially game changing Touchdown for the Chicago Bears. Although the Bears Head Coach Matt Nagy would be left fuming as the Bears would roll the dice and take a risk in attempting to score a 2-point PAT only to find their path blocked by an outstanding Raiders defence taking the score of the game to 17-13. This would mean that a field goal would not be enough for the Bears to tie up the game.

To make the things even more difficult for their opponent, the Raiders would chose to play safe towards the end of the second quarter and rather than taking risks would send in Jonathan Song once again to take another kick at goal, which would be successful and would see the Las Vegas go into halftime with a 20-13 lead over Chicago. Being just a one score game, this game was far from being over.

Bebe Rexha would be revealed as the the act for Super Bowl LVI and the crowd would absolutely lose their minds and fans around would enjoy the halftime show with a strong country theme.

The third quarter would prove to be tale of two head coaches telling their respective defences to not allow the other team to penetrate their end zone, which result in the Q3 seeing neither team score a point and the score remaining 20-13 with the game just fifteen minutes from the Super Bowl champions from being crowned. The fourth quarter would see the Raiders start to be more tactical with a clear intention of keeping the ball on the ground and running down the clock, not wanting to take any risks in throwing any interceptions and as Las Vegas found themselves prevented from getting a first down on the Bears 32 yard line, Song would return to the field to score his 3rd Field Goal of the game taking the score to 23-13.

To add insult to injury on the Raiders next drive, they would continue to do everything in their power to to run down the clock and when they arrived at within safe field goal range, with just four minutes on the clock, rather than attempt to carrying on pushing forward Aaron Rodgers instead would choose to take a knee. The Raiders clear intention of running down the clock seemed to trigger anger from Nagy who seemed to lose his mind on as he watched on the sideline and would call for a timeout, seemingly unwilling to allow Las Vegas to use this tactic to run down the clock. The Raiders seemed to have no interest in sportsmanship, as Rodgers would proceed to take a knee once again with Nagy calling timeout for a second time. Rodgers would then repeat his strategy as Nagy was now forced to call timeout for the third time. Jonathan Song would then be called onto the field and he would slot over his fourth FG of the game giving the Raiders a 26-13 lead with three minutes left of the game.

This tactic seemed to have got the Bears' blood boiling as on their very next drive Trubisky in just four phases of play would pick out Allen Robison II who would proceed to run into the Raiders end zone and score a critical touchdown seconds after the Two Minute Warning turning the game into just a one score game at 26-20. Eddie Pineiro would be handle the impossible task of trying to make secure an onside kick, although the Raiders were very much expecting the tactic and would claim the ball for themselves.

With the ball in the Raiders possession and the Bears having used all of their timeouts, all the Raiders needed to do was to claim one more first down and the game would be theirs. Something which they would manage to achieve on their first play of the drive, and they would follow this on with Rodgers resorting to the QB kneel once again as the final whistle would be blown with the Las Vegas Raiders winning the game 26-20.

The victory would now mean that the Raiders franchise had now won the Super Bowl for the 4th time in their history, although the gap between their last victory in 1983 meant that this was the Raiders first win in thirty eight years. The Super Bowl MVP Trophy would be awarded to Raiders' Running back Josh Jacobs who made 150 yards with an average of 10.7 to score two touchdowns in the game. Jacobs is only in his third season in the NFL, and is on course to being on of the best Running Backs in the game.

When Josh Jacobs was interviewed on the sideline after the game he would make it clear to everyone that asked him, that the only reason the Las Vegas Raiders were the champions of the world was because of the hard work and determination of one man. Mark Stoop.
