WWE.com has learned that several meetings have taken place between Acting SmackDown General Manager Vickie Guerrero and ECW General Manager Armando Estrada that, if ratified, would allow SmackDown and ECW Superstars to compete on Tuesday and Friday nights.

While nothing is signed as of yet, locker room sources say that this open door agreement between Vickie and Estrada will be discussed tonight, live on ECW on Sci Fi. No further details have been released, and when pressed for more information, Estrada was tight-lipped (a rarity in its own right).

“I have no news for you right now,â€￾ said Estrada. “But tonight on ECW on Sci Fi (10/9 CT), I will give some insight into these meetings.â€￾

So this is a kayfabe angle? Hmmm, it might be a little too soon, and the ECW title will get degradede, but the prospect of the match up interests me.

Both shows need fresh faces. This is a brilliant move.

Since Smackdown isn't on cable, it'd be nice to showcase some of the ECW wrestlers on there. People without cable aren't too familiar with the ECW guys.

ECW In Danger Of Losing TV Deal? Big Update

Source - PWInsider

In what could not be a good sign for ECW, WWE has announced that effective immediately all ECW episodes will be steamed on their web site. Their deal with the Sci Fi Network is up at the end of 2007, thus things don't look good for renewal.

Originally ECW was scheduled to be re-launched under Shane McMahon whose vision was to run ECW TV on WWE.com. However when Vince got behind it, he suggested a much larger television audience. ECW started off with strong ratings, but it has decreased steadily over time.

With the announcement yesterday that SmackDown superstars will be appearing on ECW television it is likely the brand will slowly crawl towards something similar to WWE.com's Heat and lose whatever specific identity is still left.

Well, what can I say.

USE FUCKING HARDCORE MATCHES VINCE

I don't think ECW will ever go back to the hardcore matches at this stage as much as I would like to see.

If ECW doesn't get a TV deal and ends up like Heat it won't be good because I can't see Vince keeping the likes of Punk, Morrison and Burke on ECW if it does happen which could be the end of ECW if that happens imo...

I don't have cable in my room and once my mom gets settled into the TV room getting her out is like world war three.
MAYBE IF I HAD SOMEONE BREAK HER BROOM STICK AT WORK SHE WOULDN'T BE ABLE TO GET HOME!!!!

Chavoheat. That's the reason smackdown is the number one brand in WWE. because i watch it.

I wouldn't mind ECW and SD merging and just have SD on Fridays, SD needs a little more spice to their roster

Maybe Spike will pick it up to try and boost its ratings.

It does get higher ratings than TNA after all.

I liked what Xtremebadass said, merge Smackdown and ECW.
SD is 2 hours and it gets Strong Ratings compared to ECW, well if you want to go on with the new Vision then convert SD into 1/2 of ECW.
1.5 Hours for Smackdown and half an hour for ECW, when it gets up and is finally strong then get a good TV deal and fix a show, that's my opinion if I were Vince McMahon then I could have turned ECW around, shit the 'NEW VISION" of ECW it got nowhere and was a failure! hArDcOrE was Better!

This merger thing might be good, but then again, it might suck! Sure, people like Morrison, Punk and Big Daddy V might get some more exposure on SD, but it basically means that the guys like Dreamer, Burke and Thorn will be put in the backburner.. Why? Because WWE is going to want to showcase their biggest names on both SD and ECW.

^^^it may not be the original ECW but I say again anyone that thought that this was going to be the same ECW was fucking nuts....neway wether this is a good thing or not all it really means is that if Vince wants to keep ECW on the air he needs to get them a good TV deal and make it a one hour show were you showcase more than five guys

Good, merge it with SD, it doesn't really matter to me at this point. Three brands for one promotion is ridiculous in the first place, I don't even think WWE should do hardcore matches anymore for numerous reasons. Who cares if ECW gets scrapped? Merge with SD, get Punk and Burke more exposure, trim down the overall roster with some more releases...only good things can come out of this.

That shit you see on sci-fi is not Ecw!:detective:
Correct.
It's EC-Dud.
Smackdown & ECW should merge but they shouldn't call them smackdown & ecw.
It should be Tuesday Night Smackdown & Friday Night Smackdown.
And they shouldn't be on a cable channel.
