AidsJohnson said:I see it as a huge waste if that amount of cash is spent to make the funds available to have it just sit there after.
Crayo said:Guys no one gives a f*ck about your countries, this is about stadiums planned for Qatar.
Crayo said:Who cares though? It's like caring about ratings for WWE. I'm going to enjoy watching football matches in those stadiums. I couldn't care less if the country has lost a ton of money and the stadiums are dead for the majority of the year.

Dolph'sZiggler said:To be fair you took us down that road with your ignorant stance on North America hosting world cups
AidsJohnson said:I care, i think it's a huge waste with part time workers only working that specific amount of time, and having something that great being underused by itself is a huge waste of money, space, and could be easily filled with other events, depending on the location.
Crayo said:Those part-time workers would still be working for a relatively long period of time, those stadiums won't be built over night. It creates a lot of jobs -- even if temporary -- so that's fine. The rest of your post is stuff I couldn't care about, and I have no idea why you do.
Qatar wasting money isn't new, and it's not going to keep me up. I won't lie in bed thinking "Damn, no one is using Qatar's stadiums atm ".
Crayo said:Ignorant? It's an opinion a lot of people will no doubt agree with. You have a higher population than most so these "we brought more fans" argument is just silly. Besides, the US does not qualify for every world cup and it was seen as a proud moment for your country -- naturally more people will turn up.
I STILL don't think North America should get it, at least not yet. Not until the MLS grows or football becomes more relevant in North America. Or if there is no where else interesting to go at the time. The "we have lots of people which inevitably means we have lots of football fans still" argument doesn't stand with me. Many more European countries especially need to host the events, and perhaps more places like Africa to host them which helps their country a lot. I see no logical reason for North America to host it yet.
You last hosted it in 1994, that's not that long ago. Spain have won the world cup back to back, they need to host it relatively soon imo. Argentina are another incredibly passionate football nation, they need it again. Their last one was in the 80's I think. With Messi being in his prime, why not give Argentina some World Cup love? I was going to say Russia but I think they get it after Brazil.
AidsJohnson said:I dont expect you to lose sleep over anything that doesnt have a direct effect on you. I stated why i care, and you disagree, that's fine. Wasting a shitload of money is what it is, I just dont understand creating something that great to have it just sit there after one event.
Dolph'sZiggler said:You keep bringing up other countries like I'm saying they aren't worthy
I'm not. I'm just saying that at some point the US should host another World Cup.
Well, Qatar I said doesn't need to have it. They don't
Crayo said:To host something pretty spectacular? Imagine how many faces are going to be watching the world cup (the most watched sporting tournament I think), and how that will help Qatar earn revenue with tourists and such? It puts their country on the map, and gives them a chance to impress. They must have the money to even plan this, so I couldn't care about their economical stance. I can understand this from a political point of view, and a revolutionary point of view.
AidsJohnson said:I agreed that it will create a lot of extra funds as well as being spotlight for the WC. What i am saying is what is planned after? Will it mean they can run at Olympic hosting in the future? I wasnt disagreeing with it being awesome/smart to host the WC for your country and make it great, i was just stating i expect to see those stadiums in the future, otherwise i see it as a temporary spotlight, a waste of money, and sets a shitty precedence in what other countries will need to do for hosting WC in the future.
If it gets put to use after, great. If not? Waste.
