Seems like Murray has a very good chance of at least reaching his first Wimbledon final, but with the upsets in the tournament so far you can't take anything for red. Is it harsh just to assume that the winner of Fedener/Djorkovic will take the title?

Maybe it's because i'm not a tennis fan, or because he's Scottish but I was glad to see Murray lose. Never taken to the guy as he just always seems like a miserable bastard.

Also, the news on Friday night was pissing me off with all these headlines that he had finally done it and stuff. Not being a Tennis fan I thought he had actually won Wimbledon but it turned out they were creaming themselves that he got to the final. I mean was it such a great achievement anyway because to me it seemed like he got to the final kind of default because he didn't have to face Novak/Nadal/Federer until he reached the final. Sure he had to beat the guys put in front of him but I'm pretty sure he was expected to beat them anyway.

^ Your a strange one today KIF (see my Summerslam main events thread for further evidence). Why don't you start some up yourself?

As for what Dale said some of that is fair. Certainly Murray had his luck with Nadel getting knockout our so early, but the fact remains he did have two tough matches in both the quater and semi finals and also made a good account of himself today. However Faderer is a special player and to be honest Murray is overrated IMO, sure he's good but he just isn't in the Faderer/Djorkovic league.

Troy told me awhile ago he'd start threads and vbookies for major Golf tournaments and the US Tournament passed by without it. I tried reminding him in the the chatbox one time but that thing can move a mile a minute. This is my next attempt.

Well clearly you've only seen one side of him. There's plenty of videos of him smiling, and having a laugh. And although he cried during his post match interview, he still cracked some jokes and shit, so he's not miserable at all. Also Tsonga and Ferrer weren't easy guys to beat, so you can't really say it was easy for him to get in the final... I'm not bashing you or anything but maybe watch tennis before creating opinions like that.

I wouldn't say he's overrated at all. No one said he WAS going to win, and to say he's overrated when he's made 4 GS finals and has great tour record against R-Fed is kind of silly. I've never seen anyone overrate him or claim he was better than Novak, Nadal or Roger, and I think the majority of people have accepted he's the 4th best. He will win a Grand Slam, no doubt about it.

Really, KIF? Try keeping on topic...

Murray isn't a miserable bastard at all. Alot of the time when you watch him he may not look happy, but you can't make a judgement on him based off that. From all reports he's a very nice, genuine guy.

I haven't watched any of Wimbledon until the Final. Murray started well, but it was obvious it was because Federer hadn't gotten his game quite together yet, but once he did he never really looked back. He didn't dominate, but it was a comfortable victory in the end. Feel really bad for Murray who has completely devastated about not winning. Well done to Federer for winning his first Grand Slam since the 2010 Australian Open.

But I think people maybe think that Murray can be in that class or maybe isn't far off, but to me the final yesterday proved that he is. Also without meaning to be too harsh the fact that he hasn't won one grand slam yet, but has been around awhile now is a sign of him being overrated too. He is a good player maybe even a very good player, but IMO still overrated.

I didn't say it was easy for him to get the final, I said he still had to beat the guys put infront of him to actually get there but because he didn't have to face one of the elite 3 until the final it still felt like he got there by default.

To put it into context that we may be more familiar with, consider Andy Murray as someone like Chelsea and Wimbledon as the FA Cup or whatever. Chelseas (Murray) route to the FA Cup Final was a rather "simple" one because they bumped into teams like Everton and Newcastle for example, "tough" (although I prefer tricky) teams, but teams they should be brushing aside. Would Chelsea (Murray) have gotten to the final for example if they had to bump into Man Utd (Nadal) or Man City (Djokovic) prior to the final?

Murray has beaten all guys before, I think he could easily beat Nadal. Federer and Novak are his toughest challenges IMO. But I think he can and will overcome them.

But I think people maybe think that Murray can be in that class or maybe isn't far off, but to me the final yesterday proved that he is. The final proved that he's improved a lot. I think people forget that Federer beat a guy that was on his current A game and IMO the BITW at this moment in time in Novak Djokovic to get to the final, so he doesn't exactly suck. Murray won the first set, and did really well in the second, if anything I'd say he's proven he will win a Grand Slam soon. Besides like I said, no one has ever rated him above the top 3.

No sure it was a cracking game and Murray is a very good player and it was great having a British player in the final after so long, I just think there is still some difference between him and the very best. Yeah he can beat them because on any given day anyone can beat anyone.

Of course there's some difference, but I still think Murray has room for improvement. What I gathered from the whole match is that Murray needs something that can be a game changer. To me it looked like he was trying too hard too match Federer with what he did, and it kind of backfired. I mean R-Fed had a great drop shot and back hand game, whereas Murray didn't really have anything to bring him in vital points.
