Started up a playthrough of this and I'm thoroughly enjoying it. It doesn't reach the heights of
Dead Space, but it is good. Firstly the atmosphere and setting are incredible, those factors immediately stuck out to me as impressive. Of course, it has
Dead Space vibes but I also got reminded me of
The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay. I'm playing on the highest difficulty and it gets pretty intense, the enemy designs are gross, the dismemberment and gore is well done. The combat, whilst you are doing the same thing a lot, still feels satisfying. The feeling of the melee damage is impactful with the visual damage. This is a great game to play if you're looking at what the PS5 can do in terms of visuals. It is quite apparent they put a lot of care in making the levels full to the brim with atmosphere and details. It runs and looks great in performance mode. There's a couple moments where it has hitched and the FPS drops slightly, but overall it has been a smooth and fun experience and I'm more than happy with it how it feels.
I do agree with
@Y2Jayne that the story could have been better, but I personally am enjoying it enough to do a full playthrough. The setting alone more than makes it up for it, at least for me. I would say the voice acting is pretty good even if the characters aren't the most interesting.
Josh Duhamel is good.
