GAME TWENTY-SIX

The first game between United and Brentford has been a high scoring encounter with a total of eight goals being scored in that game, that Manchester United had managed to win 5-3 in West London. The recent loss to Arsenal was still fresh, but the Bees would retain their 5-2-1-2 shape. Schade would be rested, with Javier Hernandez starting the game against his former club. Norgaard would be noticeably missing from the starting lineup and would sit on the bench with Josh Dasilva starting in the middle alongside Jensen and Rodriguez. Ben Mee would be given the armband for the first time as a Brentford player, with it being a popular decision and many feeling that Mee already offered natural leadership and perhaps was the man be suited for the job as captain in the long run.

Brentford claim a massive victory away from home, with their no doubt in anyone’s mind that Brentford belong in the division.

After the came young RWB Aaron Hickey would talk about Brentford not just being a team that was here for short term memories, but that was a club that intended on establishing itself as one of the elite in the league and that this was a project he was fully committing to and that get a victory of this style against Manchester United at Old Trafford was surely a mark that this team was serious and even in representation the Bees meant business. The young Scotsman would reveal information that hadn't been previously disclosed that Dutch side AZ Alkmaar and club rivals Fulham had both offered £16.5m for his services during the transfer window, but before the club had even considered the offer - he had told Thomas Frank that he was committed to the long term plans of the club and that a European dream was something that if not this season then in the next two or three seasons could see Brentford either in the Europa Cup or Europa Conference and playing some of the best team in Europe.​

Well that's the beauty of the FIFA games. They aren't as intricate as the FM, for example, so it's easier to sign players who probably wouldn't usually do it. Standouts are clearly Aranguiz and El Shaarawy. Both bringing Brentford up a notch, I'd say. Teemu Pukki is my favorite signing though.

GAME TWENTY-SEVEN

The reverse fixture had no been a good experience for 'The Whites' as not only had they lost 4-0 to one of their southern rivals, but when debutant Giordano had scored against them - they had almost become a meme. It was clear, especially from their fans that beating Brentford at Elland Road was a big must for this match. Brentford would continue to use the "45 D" formation and using the same starting lineup they had used against Man United with Damsgaard & Onyeka making way for Bidstrup & Gallardo on the bench.

Brentford a left frustrated by Leeds at Elland road and suffer a defeat, after such a good performance the week before. A close game, but Leeds just had a great game plan to control Brentford.

After the game a number of Leeds United fans would be asked about their clubs rivalry with Brentford and rather than being dismissed they would offer an answer. The rivalry was built with both teams being present in the Championship with both teams vying to get promoted, and it is clear that players, fans and even coaching staff have only helped ignite the fire of passion between both teams. A point was made that not all rivalry need to be historic, and although this relationship of dislike is in its infancy its unlikely it is going to disappear anytime soon.

Over the weekend the Carabao Cup Final would take place at Wembley between Liverpool & Manchester City, with City winning the match and the silverware with a scoreline of 2-1. If both teams finished in the top four, this would mean that a European place would now be available to a higher finisher in the league​

FA CUP FIFTH ROUND

The fifth round clash would see two teams from the Premiership facing each other to advance in the oldest cup competition in the world, although both teams would come to the game with two very different mindsets. The home side would use their best lineup for the game with a clear desire of advancing, however Brentford were continuing to use a team of backups and reserves.

"King Kev" Kevin O'Connor the Brentford First Team Coach and a club legend ahead of the game would clarify that Brentford were not being disrespectful to their opponents with their own player selection, but were showing faith in the players that had performed well in their previous games against QPR and Bristol City and that as things stood Alex Gilbert was the top scorer in the competition with six goals. Brentford would elect to play a 3-4-2-1 formation, and Kevin Boateng would be given the arm band for the game. On the opposing side Brentford loanee Keane Lewis-Potter would be on their bench, although the club had chosen not to prevent him from playing against the club.

Former Brentford player Ollie Watkins after the game would explain that despite scoring a brace and being happy for the team he personally didn't wish to celebrate against his former team, largely due to a feeling respect for Brentford who he felt had changed his life forever when he had been signed from Exeter and that he wouldn't be where he was today if he had joined the Bees in 2017. Watkins would comment that even three years later he received positive messages from Brentford fans and always hoped they did well.

GAME TWENTY-EIGHT

Following the cup exit, Brentford return to their 45D formation in the league. Hernandez retains his place up front with Toney, whilst Norgaard returns to the team and takes back his captaincy. The last time the two West London clubs had met, it had been Javier Hernandez who had scored a winning free kick for the Bees to take a 3-2 victory at Stamford Bridge. The rivalry between both teams is virtually non existent in terms of history of matches, but the supporters that live and breath within the city are no stranger to each other in a battle of red versus blue all side are going to want to win this derby match.

A good game between both sides that showed to be an even contest, with Brentford really recovering in the last thirty minutes of the game after the poor first half.

Mads Bidstrup would be announced to have signed a new contract with the club, extending his time with the club by four weeks for a weekly wage of £21.5 p/w. Bidstrup would make it felt that he saw himself part of the long-term project that Frank was creating and that had no intention of going out on loan again, but rather was going to fight for his place week in and week out.

Alex Gilbert who had really impressed with his performance in the FA Cup having scored six goals in three games and his status in the club had been up in the air, but instead his contract had been extended by three years on a wage of £6.2k p/w. It would be confirmed that the club intended to make Gilbert one of the many players it sent out on a two year loan program, but that Gilbert had a bright future ahead of him.

It would be also confirmed that CB Tristan Crama contract with the club would not be renewed and that the young Frenchman would be leaving the club at the end of the season.​

GAME TWENTY-NINE

Schade returns to the starting lineup, whilst Norgaard would be dropped in favour of Vitaly Janelt. Wissa, Boateng and Alex Gilbert included in the match day squad.

Ben Mee would be announced as the captain for the game and take the armband once again. Mee would comment that he had been no stranger to role during his time with Burnley and if Thomas (Frank) thought he was the person best suited to the job, then he would do everything in his power to be the best leader he could be.

The game would be the final match in the league before the international break, so after this match there be one last period of rest and recovery for any players not selected to represent their national sides.

MATCH THIRTY-ONE

Brentford now had only eight games left to play in the season and now the hopes of achieving European Dreams was a real possibility. Norgaard would return to the starting line up, but David Raya had picked up a niggle during the International Period playing for Spain and would be unavailable for few games. This would result in Ramos getting the call to start in goal, with the problems between Frank and Strakosha seeming to still be an ongoing situation, but the Albanian would be present on the bench.

The selection would mean that this would be Claudio Ramos' first start in the Premiership and it certain that this was going to be a baptism of fire, as Spurs were only two points behind the Bees and looking to take their position in the table. The last meeting between both teams had ended in a one goal draw, so it was hard to gauge how this match was going to go.

It would be confirmed that Swedish side AIK had agreed term to sign recent academy graduate strike Massimo Martinelli (65) on a loan to buy option for a two year spell with an agreed 50/50 wage split, with the needed future fee for the Italian talent being £780k. It was being speculated that Martinelli was unlikely to break into the Brentford team anytime soon, but the club was still looking to gain a future sale for the player they had helped developed.

It has been speculated for a while that problem between Thomas Frank and Albanian keeper Thomas Strakosha (77) were present, with it being rumoured Strakosha had refused to play for the club and this is what had led to Claudio Ramos being signed with Cox and Balcombe still developing their game at other club. It would be confirmed that a transfer deal had been finalized between Brentford and Arsenal and an initial offer of £11m had been rejected, but that Strakosha would be leaving to join Arsenal in the summer for a figure of £14m.

Ghoddos who would also be leaving the club in the summer, but under better circumstances would comment on the situation. Saman would claim that Strakosha had felt they should have been the first choice keeper and had created a toxic environment in the dressing room, that had left other members of the squad feeling uncomfortable and had led to Strakosha exclusion from matchday squads. Ghoddos would make the point that in football not everyone can start every week, and that it was important to show some professionalism because at the end of the day this wasn't just a hobby.

MATCH THIRTY-TWO

Despite the loss Brentford’s team is unchanged, with it being confirmed that Raya has been cleared to play - but will not return until the next game just to be cautious. Wolves who are currently in the Semi Finals of the FA Cup are realized as being a serious threat, despite being lower in the league. The last team the two team had played had seen the Bees leave Molineux with a 3-1 victory.

Frank states it is the worst part of the season to start to crumble and complacency is not good enough and perhaps chances need to be offered to those that show desire, rather than expected starters. The level of frustration by the club's manager can be really felt during the press conference.

MATCH THIRTY-THREE

The "45D" remains the go to formation, but four major line up changes are made (Schade dropped for Wissa, Rodriguez dropped for Damsgaard, Norgaard dropped for Dasilva and Ajer dropped for Boateng). David Raya would be cleared to play by the medical staff, and with the Spaniard being a key member of the team this filed the travelling fans with some hope. The last time the team had played had resulted in a 1-1 draw, with now Newcastle United player Bryan Mbeumo having scored the equalizer for the London outfit.

Brentford retain the same shape, but Rodriguez replaces Dasilva and plays in the CM role behind Damsgaard. Ajer also returns in favour of Boateng. The last time the two side has been met, the Bees had won the game in the last fifteen minutes of the game, but their backups had lost 5-0 in the FA Cup.
