The Big Bang Theory has been renewed for three more seasons.

CBS has announced that the hugely popular sitcom will continue until at least the 2016-17 season.

Chuck Lorre's comedy has grown to become US television's highest-rated programme, averaging 19.8 million viewers and a big 6.1 rating in the 18-49 demographic in its current seventh season.

Warner Bros TV is currently undertaking contract renewals with its main cast, consisting of Jim Parsons, Johnny Galecki, Kaley Cuoco, Simon Helberg, Kunal Nayyar, Melissa Rauch and Mayim Bialik.

"Comedy is a big part of our schedule, and The Big Bang Theory is the biggest comedy force on television," said CBS Entertainment chairman Nina Tassler.

"This multi-year deal further strengthens our network's position for future seasons and marks another chapter in the great partnership CBS enjoys with Warner Bros Television for delivering audiences the best in comedy. We're proud to work with and showcase the incredible talents of Chuck Lorre, Steve Molaro and this amazing cast every week.

CBS is also expected to renew Chuck Lorre's sitcoms Two and a Half Men, Mike and Molly and Mom.

I love The Big Bang Theory, I just hope it has the legs to keep going for another 3 years.

I don't watch the show regularly, but I've seen a few episodes with friends. I think it's a funny show, and its popularity makes this news not surprising at all, but a decline in quality is pretty much inevitable by this point. But if people still watch it then there's no point in complaining.

I've only seen the odd episode also, but have been pretty impressed with what I have seen. Ten seasons is rare even for a US show.

I'm a regular watcher and watch the new eps atm on the weekly basis and it is an enjoyable show but man I am questionable of this. I hope they start doing stuff better if they have THREE seasons ahead of them. They're already recycling jokes and storylines and not doing much with a few characters. Have their good and bad episodes.

I've seen every episode, and own all the Seasons on DVD.

This news is hardly surprising, since it's CBS' best comedy show, and it's always done great in the ratings.

Love Big Bang Theory, but I think the boys being paired up with women has them jumping the shark. Think it needs some sort of major twist, like I don't know, Sheldon fucks Amy Farrah Fowler, he sees what he's been missing, and becomes an awkward lethario who fucks Penny, because everybody else has. This turns Leonard and Sheldon into mortal enemies, Penny is kicked to the curb, becomes a famous actress and Loenard acts like a bitch as usual trying to get her to remember him. Sheldon keeps the new gimmick, becomes besties with Mike Kripke picking up bitches. Keep that up for a season and a half, Wallowitz becomes Sheldons new project to conquer, uses his String Theory nmethods to get in her pants, Wallowitz's split and divorce, Series Final is everyone thinking everyones getting back together, Sheldon re-smartens up, marries Amy Farrah Fowler and the wedding scene is the final one, Leonard shows up to his enemies wedding because Penny is there for Amy, little chick with wallowitz is there for Amy, and Raj is bestman, about to make his toast, and Leonard and Penny make up, because thats what always happens, and Wallowitz crashes the wedding looking like he is trying to get his wife back, but swerves us all by professing his love for Raj asit always should've been, cut to credits BOOM series finale everyone remembers.

Something along those lines.
