I was quite suprised that many of you weren't more damning of the Women's match at Summerslam, and espically the result. We can debate wheather it was a good match or not another time, but as far as I am concerned the only logical and correct result for me was for Phoenix to leave as champion.

You see they way WWE have set this new heel character out is that she is a killer monster heel, in the mould of Awesome Kong, and she is anti-every thing which the Divas division has stood for in recent years. So for the angle to work then Phoenix has to be able to destroy and number of the run of the mill diva types, so even if they had, her sqaush KK in a few minutes it would have made sense because of the nature of the storyline, lets face it look at Phoenix and look at Kelly. Who would you pick in a fight?

The other reason for a title change is because KK has just been one of the worse woman's champion in history, as many have pointed out she can't even run the ropes correctly! She is not over, or at least is not over enough, her matches are mostly terrible, and she has no personaity. There for it was just time for WWE to make the change. Nearly as worse was the fact that the champion controlled most of the match, meaning that the match was poorer as a result, and it killed a lot of Phoenix's momentum.

To add to this they have rushed the partneship with Natalya, which should have only began after a number of weeks or months of them working their way through the Divas on raw and smackdown, and the fact that both made a small appeance on the stage at end of a match on the post-summerslam raw is even more curse for concern. It is starting to look like WWE have killed another promising angle before it has even got going.

Thoughts?

Kelly Kelly is a Torrie Wilson wannabe, nothing more, and that's not a compliment. The Divas competition hasn't mattered much to me for quite some time, but the prospect of an alliance between the powerhouses had me intrigued. Except they've only beaten AJ Lee and Kaitlyn, the new talent.

Having Kelly Kelly go over anyone is ridiculous in my opinion, but going over Beth Phoenix is especially so. I don't know that they've killed the idea yet, but they're certainly headed that direction.

Well thats the thing, that is why this needed to be built slowly and have each one run over each roster before either forming a team and facing some new stiffer computition or going against each other to see who the better woman is.

They need to send the message that Phoenix is the future of the Division and that a more wrestling based direction and people who can draw heat and get people interested in women's wrestling again is the way to go, but by what happened at summerslam and then the next night on raw, they are sending a totally different message.

I think that WWE had two options for the finish to their match at SummerSlam and WWE used neither of these ideas. One was simply a Beth Phoenix title win and the second was Kelly winning by DQ after Beth snaps again. That way Beth remains strong but they could have dragged it out one more PPV. I was very surprised that Kelly won the match clean and the only reason I can think of is that WWE want this feud to continue for longer and they don't want to bury Kelly right away. NOC is coming up so Beth could still take the title there.

It is a bit early to give up on this, but the signs are that WWE still see Kelly as their top name moving forward.

I hope it is just WWE giving her an extended run, one more month, with the title and nothing else. I don't want this Beth/Natalya heel turn to be over now. The crowd were very loud when Beth first turned heel and cut her promo so WWE should listen to what the crowd are saying.
