The squash match can be just as important in getting a new talent over on their first or early appearances as anything else. So what for you have been the most effective squashes?

I would say the three matches The Kid lost before beating Razor Roman on Raw in 93, as they convinced the fans that he was a jobber, making the later upset stand out more.

The Halloween Phatom (Rick Rude) VS. The Z-Man Halloween Havoc 91
Yokozuna VS. Virgil Survivor Series 1992
Taz VS. Kurt Angle Royal Rumble 2000 (proving that the guy doing the job doesn't have to be a nobody)
The Ultimate Warrior VS. The Honkey Tonk Man Summerslam 1988
The Steiner Brothers VS. The Beverly Brothers Royal Rumble 1993

lol I was a big fan of Tom Zenk, The Z Man back in the day. He had a good feud with Pillman that I seem to remember.

While I'm a fan of Danielson, there was a Sheamus/Bryan squash not too long after he came back at Summer Slam for the WWE vs Nexus angle. It was just a brutal burial beatdown. It stands out in my memory. Much worse than losing at WM in 18 seconds lol

Benoit vs. Orlando Jordan. They actually started having fun with it comparing how fast Benoit could beat him to how long it takes to brew coffee.
