Former WWE World champion Dave Bautista was backstage at tonight's NXT tapings.

Batista made it clear in his documentary that he never liked developmental systems in the Power Plant or OVW. Last time he was there was when he did the HHH DVD interview and talked about possibilities for appearances.

Do you think they may have wanted to pitch something to him like a WM angle to coincide with his Marvel movie in 14? He seems like the perfect hand to have return to coincide with a network launch and wm30 as he is the only real B to Cena they had this generation. Plus he can actually go unlike Goldberg or Hogan

Then again him being him, he could've been talent scouting on a day off.

Or he was in the area and figured he'd stop by, just like what happens with most ex-employees?

The guy wouldn't even go back down to OVW or to visit FCW once he got called up as he mentioned in his documentary. He only went to NXT once before for business matters, which was the Trips documentary. I doubt he just wants to visit a bunch of rookies short of the divas.

With all the they want a big mania opponent rumors, he fits the bill as he's making his way into Hollywood like Rock 10 years ago, and he was always. The closest thing to Cena's equal they've created since 05. He's also always maintained he would comeback for right opponent, money, and situation. You would be hard ropes see to find a bigger situation than the start of 14 when they need all hands on deck.

If trips is approaching Hulk at a function, then he's approaching Dave for business. Dave has always been clear about a couple of things. He's always said technical wrestling doesn't matter, storytelling does so he's not there to watch Regal and Cesaro. He's always criticized the Power Plant, said he wouldn't go back to developmental and refused to return to OVW, wouldn't go to FCW, and only agreed to go to NXT for a business matter before. Who is he going to visit as there aren't any real vets, just agents and execs? Either he's filming or he's talking business be it cross promotion of his movies or a mania match.

Dave isn't a just stop by and and visit guy by his own admission. And they have a network launching and are looking for names for mania which draw and can work a match, both of which he can do better than almost anyone you could bring in. His Marvel release is also timed in the same span and a bit of cross promotion wouldn't hurt, like Rock with. Fast 5. Trips isn't dumb and Dave wouldn't waste time. They would probably pitch a match or some appearances to him as he admitted that's just what they did when he did the documentary.
