It's been tons of fun watching the Paris Olympics. For those of you who watched some of the events, I hope you enjoyed them as much as I did. I gotta say that this is my favorite Olympics of all-time. Congratulations to the medal winners and the competitors who made this all happen. I already can't wait for the Los Angeles Olympics in 2028.

Unpopular opinion maybe here but I believe football(soccer), basketball, tennis & golf shouldn’t be in the olympics.

An Olympic medal should be the pinnacle for an athletes and it isn’t for any of those sports.

The only problem with basketball, at least on the mens side, is that the US always sends a superpower to represent us. There's no challenge. Who's honestly going to blow out a team with Lebron, Curry AND Durant on it? Nobody.

That being said I'll be changing the title of the thread to represent the winter games because those will be upon us soon enough!

The same thing happened in the Winter Olympics while back where a skier had zero experience but somehow lucked into the Olympics by virtue of doing some of the most basic movies and going to every single competition possible to qualify.

It happens, it's not the end of the world, some people just slip through the cracks.

Rebecca Cheptegei, Olympic Runner From Uganda, Dies After Gasoline Attack

The athlete, who was set on fire in Kenya by a man with whom she was in a relationship, competed in the women’s marathon at the Paris Olympics this summer.

Rebecca Cheptegei, a Ugandan long-distance runner who competed in the women’s marathon at the Paris Olympics before she was severely burned in a gasoline attack this week, died Thursday in Kenya. She was 33.

Ms. Cheptegei died in an intensive care unit at the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital in the city of Eldoret, said Dr. Owen Menach, who is on staff at the hospital. The cause was multiple organ failure, he said in a phone interview.

The Kenyan police had said that a man with whom she was in a relationship, Dickson Ndiema, set her on fire with gasoline Sunday afternoon.

So not necessarily Olympics related, but the Argentinan Paralympic Blind Soccer Team became the first team in many years to defeat the Brazilian team (who had won 5 straight Paralympic Gold Medals).
