So I've been messing around and editing Matt Shannon's conversion of the 1985 mod, and I think I might have figured out how to make AWA/MSW/CWA easier to play while still making WWF/JCP completely playable.
The first change I did was adding Written/Exclusive Written (Per Show) contracts to each company (and some additions to JCP), so that WWF doesn't just gobble up all the talent immediately.
AWA's Written Talent:
Exclusive Written:
Candi Devine (Until 1990)
Greg Gagne (Until 1990)
Larry Nelson (Until 1990)
Nick Bockwinkel (Until 1988)
Rod Trongard (Until 1988)
Sgt. Slaughter (Until 1990)
Verne Gagne (Randomized)
Written:
Baron Von Raschke (Until 1990)
Curt Hennig (Until 1988)
Jimmy Garvin (Until 1986)
Larry Zbyszko (Until 1990)
Masa Saito (Until 1990)
Paul Ellering: (Until June 1986)
Precious (Until 1986)
Rick Martel (Until 1986)
Hawk (Until June 1986)
Animal (Until 1986)
Shiek Adnan Al-Kaissie (Until 1990)
The Masked Superstar (Until 1986)
CWA's Written Talent:
Exclusive Written:
Jerry Jarrett (Random)
Lance Russell (Until 1989)
Written:
Eddie Gilbert (Until 1990)
Jerry Lawler (Until 1995)
Randy Savage (Until April 1985)
JCP's Re-Edited Written Talent:
Exclusive Written:
Dusty Rhodes (Until 1989)
Jim Crockett Jr. (Until 1991)
Magnum T.A. (Until 1993)
Nikita Koloff (Until 1989)
Ole Anderson (Until 1994)
Ric Flair (Until 1991)
Tommy Young (Randomized)
Tully Blanchard (Until 1989)
Written:
J.J. Dillon (Until 1990)
Thunderbolt Patterson (Until 1993)
MSW's Written Talent:
Exclusive Written:
Bill Watts (Until 1987)
Ted DiBiase (Until 1987)
Written:
Jim Duggan (Until 1987)
Jim Ross (Until 1988)
Steve Williams (Until 1988)
WCCW's Written Talent:
Exclusive Written:
Fritz Von Erich (Random)
Written:
Buddy Roberts (Until 1989)
Kerry Von Erich (Until 1990)
Kevin Von Erich (Until 1990)
Michael Hayes (Until 1989)
Terry Gordy (Until 1989)
Mike Von Erich (Until 1987)
I've also taken the liberty of editing WWF's Exclusive Written (Per Month) contracts to the following:
Bret Hart (Until 1995)
Freddie Blassie (Until 1995)
Gorilla Monsoon (Until 1995)
Tony Garea (Until 1995)
Vince McMahon (Until 1995)
Bobby Heenan (Until 1994)
Hulk Hogan (Until 1994)
Andre The Giant (Until 1993)
Gene Okerlund (Until 1993)
Pat Patterson (Until 1992)
Jesse Ventura (Until 1991)
In addition to this bit of changing up, I've also changed AWA, JCP, and WCCW's products:
WCCW: Classic Wild West > Ruthless Aggression
AWA: Silver Age Pro Wrestling > Classic Wild West
JCP: Classic Balanced > Hokey Southern Rasslin'
Television Deals have been altered and fixed, or created early for incentive sake:
- AWA Championship Wrestling on ESPN is created (although it would IRL be made in September) with 60% of the profits going to AWA for balance sake. The deal will end on January 1990.
- AWA All-Star Wrestling on U.S. Syndication - Big is created, with 100% of the profits going to AWA. The deal will end on January 1990.
- WWF's TV deals have been altered to give WWF more profit (45% instead of 10%)
- MSW's Power Pro Wrestling deal is upped for more profit (45% instead of 10%)
- CWA's TV deal upped as well (45% instead of 10%)
Popularity of certain companies have been adjusted as well:
AWA: Great Lakes and Mid-West Pop have been swapped for better accuracy. Mid-West Pop is 55, Great Lakes Pop is 45. AWA's Pop in Hawaii and Puerto Rico have been reduced to 0. Minor changes elsewhere in the US.
JCP: Mid-Atlantic and South East Pop upped to 55. Minor Changes elsewhere in the US.
CWA: South East Pop Upped from 25 to 55. No Changes elsewhere. Reason is that Memphis was extremely popular even in '85 and thus was a big territory.
MSW: Mid-South Pop is 55, Mid-Atlantic and South East Pop is Upped to 45.
WWF: No Changes to Pop as WWF already starts with a major advantage in the cash and attendance ratings.
Another little change is the starting world: Starting Economy and Industry in the US is set to High and Rising.
- Wrestling was still insanely popular based on attendance ratings of several companies throughout the U.S.
A controversial decision is the creation of the "American Wrestling Alliance", with AWA/CWA/MSW as partners, in part because all three shared talent and had a lot of cross-over at the time. CWA is no longer part of the NWA, but part of the AWA Alliance.
MSW's Oil Crisis Narrative is Slightly Negated to Not Completely Kill the Company.
If anyone would be willing to test out / QA the edited mod, please let me know. Just send me your Discord (if you have it) and I'll send you the file. If you don't have Discord, I'll send you a mediafire link.
