Former ECW World champion and long-time WWE announcer Tazz left World Wrestling Entertainment last night after calling the matches for this Friday's edition of Smackdown. He is now officially done with the company as his WWE contract expires today. We will both have many more details on this story in reports on the Audio section of PWInsiderElite.com today. Why the hell did they let him go? He's by far the best colour commentator the company has. That really sucks.

My guess is that JBL will return to the announcers table in the near future, making Tazz pretty much expendable.

Yeah that would seem like the logical conclusion, but someone's going to need to replace King in the near future and Tazz seemed like the perfect man to do it. Let's face it, King's been pretty terrible since he started being all nice to the faces and I get the impression his time is coming to an end. Surely it would have made sense to bring JBL back to SD, have Striker on ECW and move Tazz up to RAW.

Fuck.
This is only acceptable is JBL returns to the booth, because he was awesome on commentary.
I still hate to see Tazz go. I loved that guy. He was a staple of Smackdown, and it sucks he just randomly will be leaving. I wonder if they'll mention it on SD at all this week?

But Jimmy, I disagee about King's time comign to an end. Ya, his face run sucks, and I prefer him as a heel, but he's sitll one of the best colour guys of all time, and is still young for a commentator. He probably won't be leaving for at least 10 years.

^^^None of that goes any way to refute the point that King is shit these days.

This is bad news.

Tazz was well 'sloppy' at times, but given the (IMO) sorry state of the current crop of WWE announcers, he wouldn't have been topping my list for the chop.

King: Terrible. The epitome of 'trading off of former glories'. Lost the ability to think on his feet so much so that he can barely complete a sentence these days.
Cole: No 'flavour' what-so-fucking-ever.... Soulless Vince drone that regretably will be around for-fuckin'-ever.
JR: Past his best, but just about holding it down thanks simply to the vibe of being "Good ol' JR"... Shame he hasn't got license to freak out like he used to [insert favourite JR outburst here].
Matt Stryker: A class act...Would a more storyline orientated show like Raw suit him in the future? I'd rather he went to SD cos of the in-ring slant to the show.
Todd Grisham: A work in progress... Whether or not he'd hold his own without the main-man Stryker by his side remains to be seen.

To say JBL is needed would be an understatement, but IMO they need to replace King too. I'd go with:

RAW: JR/JBL
SD: Cole/Stryker
ECW: Grisham/[insert new guy]

That's because I never tried to refute that King ig shit these days.
But my point is, King didn't suddenly lose all his commentary skills. It's just a case of him needing to freshen up, and go back to his old style. It's like when a wrestler gets a gimmick change, or turns face or heel. He may suck under that gimmick or whatever, but it's not like he needs to be released. He just needs a change.
I believe the same for King. King is great, but he's just stale right now. I believe a change back to heel, or even better, tweener, would serve him well.

I'd like to see:
Cole/JBL (SD)
JR/King(Raw)
Grisham/Striker(ECW)

Regardless, it sucks that Tazz is gone. I hope he comes back within a year or something.

^^Agreed!

I would have liked to have seen Cole and Tazz have another run on SD!

This is about out of the blue and think it will more than likely be addressed somehow!

You seem a bit 'tangled' there mate....

Your explainations, both the one that follows and comments in your previous post, do just that.

But my point is, King didn't suddenly lose all his commentary skills.

On the contrary, I believe that is exactly what has happened over the last few years.

It's just a case of him needing to freshen up, and go back to his old style. It's like when a wrestler gets a gimmick change, or turns face or heel. He may suck under that gimmick or whatever, but it's not like he needs to be released. He just needs a change.

You're blaming the gimmick rather than the performer.

Whereas I claim King, the performer, is shit now.

Right. You're claiming he's shit now, and I was saying,I definately agree with that. Therefore, I'm not refuting your accusation that King is shit right now. We all agree on that, in fact, I made a tread about it about a week ago.
What we do disagree on however, is why he sucks. You think he himself sucks, which if you wanna think that, is fine. But I think he could be fine by going back to his tweener ways, and freshening up. He didn't lose the ability to commentate.

But you're NOT agreeing with me in ANY way.

Therefore, I'm not refuting your accusation that King is shit right now.
We all agree on that, in fact,

Your claiming that his gimmick is the problem DOES effectively refute my criticism of his as a performer.

My criticism is not of his gimmick.... He's been getting worse and worse ever since he went tweener.

He didn't lose the ability to commentate.

You seem reluctantly to entertain this notion. It CAN happen - Talent/Ability deteriorates just like anything else.

Tazz was entertaining, JBL isn't even half as entertaining as Tazz was.

I don't get it, Tazz was such a good commentator, letting him go like this wasn't the best decision imo.
