Hi Swifties, are you sitting down? You should sit down. Because the next artist who's going to perform at the 2012 VMAs is... MS. TAYLOR SWIFT! The "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together" singer is set to charm the Staples Center in Los Angeles on Sept. 6, and quite frankly, I am more excited than her beloved cat Meredith at an all-you-can-eat catnip buffet.
We all know Taylor can deliver an intense VMAs performance, so you can bank on some real emotional singing that will pair nicely with the other groups taking the stage, like a fine bottle of Diet Dr. Pepper and kettle corn. (Seriously, try it!) This year's show is definitely going to be a night of insanely good performances with Pink singing a brand new song from The Truth About Love, VMA nominees One Direction causing a veritable tidal wave of SQUEES all over the world, Alicia Keys delivering the R&B goods, AND Green Day bringing their rockin' brand of TLC. (Meaning "Oh Love," not a "No Scrubs" cover, but that would be SO AWESOME.)
See more about Taylor Swift and other surprise VMAs guests after the jump!
That's not even all the news. Taylor is being joined by her fellow Punk'd alum Miley Cyrus, who joins Wiz Khalifa, Mac Miller, and -- wait for it -- the gold medal-winning U.S. WOMEN's GYMNASTICS TEAM handing out Moonmen that night. (Note to McKayla, you have to be impressed with this gig, right??!!)
But back to T. Swift. In case you doubt if the gal's got an amazing sense of humor, please lock in your memory forever that she allowed VMAs host Kevin Hart to poke a little fun at her love of breakup anthems.
