The Ormond Beach Police Department has provided an update on the criminal investigation into Tammy "Sunny" Sytch.
The WWE Hall-of-Famer is suspected of DUI in a fatal car crash that led to the death of 75-year-old Julian L. Lasseter on March 25. According to police reports, Sytch's vehicle crashed into the back of Lasseter's while he was stopped at a light. He was taken to hospital where he later died.
While the responding police officers suspected Sytch was inebriated at the time of the collision, they later told media they were awaiting the results of toxicology reports before announcing any potential charges.
The department has since released a statement to PW Insider noting that they have received part of the toxicology report.
"We have received part of the toxicology report. If charges are filed they will not be until the investigation is completed. We will update the press release once a decision is reached."
Sytch denied culpability over the weekend on social media. While a police report states two witnesses saw Sytch driving at a "high rate of speed," she contends that she was not going very fast at the time. Sytch also noted that she believes Lasseter died of a heart attack. She also appears to be claiming that she suffered a seizure at the time of the crash.
Lasseter's family filed a
civil suit against Sytch last week. They are also suing Sytch's boyfriend, James F. Pente, for lending her his car. Sytch does not have a valid driver's license.
