I'm amazed that anyone is on here defending that god awful stipulation. Lumberjack matches are bad enough on Raw and Smackdown, never mind at their second biggest PPV ffs.
Dean Ambrose: lunatic, freak and extreme son of a bitch. Chooses Lunberjack match, lol.

Lumberjack match is fitting given the two combatants.
Given the heat for the match already a stip was going to happen anyways.
It will be a way for Rollins to get a comeuppance, in case there's a screwy finish.

Obviously and predictably someone, or even a few wrestlers, will be mercs for The Authority and will beat down Ambrose whenever he is thrown from the ring... thus allowing Ambrose to either A: lose the match because he was outgunned... or B. Win the match despite being outgunned, depending, of course, on whether they continue the feud... I think Ambrose loses after getting outnumbered by Rollins and the Authority cronies making him break even further and become even more determined to take out Rollins. The classic underdog story playing out yet again.

... which this is a good stip for these two guys. It's all about the numbers game.

You know, he should've picked a Cage match. Granted, Cage matches preventing interference was killed in the 90's but they could still say it, it's not like Lumberjack matches are any different (plus it's lamer that psycho Dean picked it), "oh my King the lumberjacks are brawling oh man they distracted him/so and so interfered while the lumberjacks weren't looking" is probably some trash we're going to see, which is on the same level of people climbing over the cage/enterting through the door. Isn't it stupid that there's, like, a door in the cage? The two men are locked inside a steel cage and they can escape by politely asking the referee to open the door? Asinine.

Disagree Leo
Cage match at this point seems excessive. That's a match that should be used after this one.
Night Of Champions is part of the Network renewal month.
Reigns/HHH is likely to occur as well as the Cena/Lesnar rematch.
Jericho/Wyatt will be there and Rollins/Ambrose should back up the card with a gimmick match.
The summer began at MITB and will finish with a bang at NoC

True, true. I forget that this year the money PPV is NoC, which is why Hunter is probably working then, etc etc. I do think my point on the devaluation of stip matches stands though.

Everyone has been anticipating this match after almost 2 years of build with the Shield being so great. Then it boiled to a head at Battleground, then they just kinda forgot about it for a couple of weeks so now they really try to get this thing hot again. "Alright. Stipulation match. Here we go. :tough:" build it up well on Raw with the Beat the Clock, then tease the announcement for Smackdown... what's it gonna be, what's it gonna be, what will this sick fuck Dean Ambrose possibly think up to destroy his best friend who attacked him with a steel chair because the Authority that he hates so much (which should still be a thing) paid him to do so... oh, a lumberjack match. :okay:

We have to remember that this is an entertainment company and really, always has been. The cage having a door has always added to the suspense of the match.
The Lumberjack match can be just as effective as what was seen on TNA last Thursday night during the Bully Ray/Dixie Carter spot.
Idealistically, faces remain in one area outside the ring and the heels remain in another area outside the ring. The faces would favor the hero and sort of root him on. The other side would do the same.
Keep in mind, Vince McMahon has a very comic book-esque way of viewing heels and faces. Faces support each other. Heels support each other. Individuality and going against the grain isn't McMahon booking.
A Lumberjack should create a very raucous atmosphere, but that changed when the attitude era came and loners became a bit more of the norm. A cool heel doesn't necessarily follow the pack, so to speak.

Yeah, ideally, sure. I'm just pointing out that it seems like every lumberjack match the lumberjack brawls cause problems for the babyface and every cage match ends up having interference. The fact that there's a door in the cage could be justified as "it's there if someone gets hurt and needs medical attention", but keep it locked. The fact you can ask for the ref to open it kinda kills that atmosphere.

You're still thinking in terms of 'these days'. I'm actually referring to the 80's when time stood still. In Vince's mind, the things you're talking never take place.
In comic books (and in Vince's rationale), the matches aren't that complex. I'd advise you to watch a Lumberjack match or a cage match from as the early 90's or 80's and you'll see the difference.

Yeah, seem to remember on Skype we pointed out that every single cage match this year ended in interference, which is why we spent like 70% of the Cena/Wyatt match talking about bugzappers. :dawg:

Usos vs Wyatts on Raw ended with Bryan and Wyatt in the ring
The Elimination Chamber ended when the Wyatts MAGICALLY popped up in the cage when Cesaro was exiting which also led to THE DEMON KANE running in and a six-man match had 10 men in the ring
The top two matches at Lockdown ended when Abyss tore a hole in the ring, climbed up it to hit Joe with a board covered with nails that somehow only injures you for a week... Then Dixie paid off Bully Ray to be a crooked referee and he decided the match for the babyfaces, then TNA went to Spike TV to tell them "russo isn't back, we swear"
Cena vs Wyatt at ER ended with the worst shit ever

I can't remember any others this year, but after writing that I'm sure I never want to see another cage match in my life lol

*remembers* Oh, yeah, Angle vs Roode on Impact ended clean! :win:

Haha, good call Tsar.

Yep. Gosh, it seems like there's more interference when there is a freaking cage! I guess Cena had to be protected when losing a match via a kid's interference and not even being pinned. Then what shall we do with Wyatt? Have Jericho beat him! :yay:

For some reason, I'd like to see an Iron Man match between these two for the briefcase at NoC.
Those two can pull it off and Iron Man matches tend to put both competitors which is exactly what is needed here.
