Domestic box office is down 20 percent in the U.S. as "Sex Tape" goes limp and, for the first time since 2001, no film crosses $300 million. Laments one studio executive, “I wish I worked at Netflix.”

Most of the movies this summer have been shit so far......if this continues next year than it's time to panic, but I guess any way to shit on blockbusters by elitist pricks who think "good movies" are homos talking about their feelings to their mothers while they lay on their deathbeds.

People are going to continue this argument when Guardians of the Galaxy doesn't reach Avengers number and be like "Marvel's lost their touch." If it continues to happen then make it an issue, but this could just be a slow summer, so people shouldn't read into it so much.

First off, the ooze has an alien origin, not the turtles. That does not interfere with any of the Eastman/Laird origins as TCRI was run by an alien race called Utroms.

Secondly, things will change with Guardians & Turtles. They are the only movies I have been looking forward to this summer, and the only other movie I care about this year is Hobbit 3.

And we get to the real reason you started the thread. Why pick arguments when there is no arguments to be picked?

I think the drop could be partly down to too many comic films, yes the standard has been pretty good, but some characters are going to appeal more than others, and for causal fans it maybe starting to get too much. Also, the over sized budgets and running times maybe are leaving the viewer a bit cold? Blockbusters are supposed to be entertaining, and part of that has to be to do with keeping the film at best two hours and a bit long.

Overall, I don't think there is a massive problem, just that movies have been on a big roll the last few years, and there was bound to be a drop at some point, also TV has really taken off big again. To me the movie going experience will never go away (and I mean the whole experience), it just might lesser a bit.

The big superhero films have all been a bit samey since Nolan changed the genre from light-hearted OTT action to depressing, more realistic gritty dramas.

Guardians of the Galaxy looks a swerve, not in touch with the comic books so no idea of the plot but it looks jokey, and fun, which is refreshing.

Yeah I wouldn't mind checking that one out, not least because it has Chris Pratt of Parks and Recreation fame:mark:

Seeing as you like to claim a lot of your posts are supposed to be jokes, I would think you actually saw that tongue firmly in cheek nature of that sentence you bolded.....Then again....look at the source material. Elitists prick online.
