I watched the first show on Tiktok (Legit the only time I ever logged on that site, don't even have an account) on its debut and I have mixed feelings which I mentioned in the chat.
First, the talent for the company is legit. A great number of Joshi talent who Freelance but have experience in promotions such as Stardom, etc. I also love the idea of having the company sort of have its own mini-Universe with alter-egos for the wrestlers. I also marked the fuck out when Konami showed up. I also like the general stables. Vandals as the outcasts/delinquets, Dangerous Laisson as the heels, Cherry Bombs and Stars as babyfaces. Simple booking, but it allows me to jump in and know "Okay, this is where the story is going." The matches on the show itself were generally good. I also loved the anime art on the screen in the background for each match. Really Manga inspired and fits the vibes. But some issues:
First, the outfits. I know they are going for anime inspired outfits, but for the love of God the outfits are not that great for wrestling and the materials for some of them feel more suited for a sex dungeon. I do think the idea is there with some of them (And Atomic Banshee aka Ram has the most Wrestler-like attire) but they don't look comfortable, especially to wrestle in. Which that lead to the matches where they generally were good, fun, but I always felt like each wrestler was maybe wrestling at 50% to 80%. (Then sadly an otherwise really solid main event was ruined by a botched count). Then add Stray Cat's, Bingo's, and Supersonic's masks all have these weird frills, just doesn't work well.
I genuinely think if they wanted to go with anime inspired, I think they should have still found a way to keep the attires in line with what can work in a wrestling ring. Some I think would be fixed with different materials. But other wrestlers I think could be better off taking their normal attires, then put a splash of paint on them if you will, fitting them into their gimmicks. Like Sayaka having some pink with a couple frills, a bow on the bra, but still movable. Then for anything you can't adapt into an in ring attire you do by having a killer entrance attire.
Then I'll say for commentary it was fine to good, but they were sort of weird in the kayfabe, like sort of acknowledging "This is our own Universe" which I get you need intro for the first show, but I hope they tone it down in the future.
Finally, Bull as the Commissioner. On one hand, I think it's a legit legend to give you legitimacy. That's great. On the other hand, if you're going to wrestle in America primarily with an English audience, you need some way to help communicate to the fans better. She's speaking in her second language, but they sort of had to clarify the announcement after the main event. I think Bull as a commissioner can still work, but maybe someone with her to help facilitate the communication with the live crowd better (and maybe a better mic) will help.
I plan on watching show two. Konami, Saraeee, Nakajima and Sayaka in the main event, that alone can be great, but I do think they have things to work on but a concept which has legs.
