BARNETT BARRAGE

Cant wait for this, mainly because Barnett needs in the UFC ASAP.

It's a crime how two P4P guys can't prove themselves because they are locked in a neglected company. Gonna be real interesting to see whats after this for both Melendez and Barnett. Gil has cleaned out the division twice over, and Barnett (or Corimer) has to fight once more in Strikeforce as a favour to Showtime, apparently. Fuck knows who he goes against. Maybe they'll rope in Fedor for the fight that was meant to happen on that fail Affliction card.

I forgot they have to fight once more after either one of them wins the Grind Prix. They've released all of there heavyweights but those two, so UFC will have to send somebody over or they can call TIMMY SYLVIA UP and let Barnett kick the shit out of him.

As much as I love Barnett, it would be funny as fuck if they called Sylvia and he got the upset.

I hope that he wouldn't because he should know that this is the only way he will get back into UFC and if he tests positive here he will never get another chance again.

Guerilla journalist Front Row Brian, who earlier broke today's big story that King Mo is heading to Bellator and TNA wrestling, is now reporting that the Thompson vs. Melendez Strikeforce Lightweight world championship is in jeopardy.

Brian ‏ @FrontRowBrian
---Breaking--- Josh Thomson has suffered a knee injury and his fight with Gilbert Melendez on 5/19 is in jeopardy @Strikeforce

Brian ‏ @FrontRowBrian
BREAKING •••Update••• Josh Thomson has suffered a Torn PCL.

Brian ‏ @FrontRowBrian
I don't think Pat Healy would agree to a 5 round title fight on 5.19. More likely in Portland July 14.

Brian ‏ @FrontRowBrian
@therealpunk, the warrior he is, still wants to fight Gil. Highly unlikely with a Torn PCL

These injuries are crazy lately. All involving title fights too :fp:

So the winner and i assume the loser (Unless it's Barnett because Dana's an ass) will be offered UFC contracts. The winner of the Gran Prix will still have to fight one more fight under Strikeforce though.

And Thompson is saying that his injury isn't as bad as reported and that he will be able to compete against Melendez next weekend.

Crazy that this show is so close, been pumped for the Gran Prix to end for such a long time now, mainly because once Barnett wins he'll be back in the UFC :mark:

Main Card (Showtime)
Heavyweight Grand Prix final bout: Josh Barnett vs. Daniel Cormier
Lightweight Championship bout: Gilbert Melendez (c) vs. Josh Thomson
Light Heavyweight bout: Rafael Cavalcante vs. Mike Kyl]
Welterweight bout: Nah-Shon Burrell vs. Chris Spang

Preliminary Card (Showtime Extreme)
Lightweight bout: Gesias Cavalcante vs. Isaac Vallie-Flagg
Light Heavyweight bout: Virgil Zwicker vs. Guto Inocente
Light Heavyweight bout: Gian Villante vs. Derrick Mehmen
Welterweight bout: Quinn Mulhern vs. Yuri Villefort
Lightweight bout: James Terry vs. Bobby Green

This show is coming up this weekend, and it's going to be a hell of a card. Barnett/Cormier is going to be pretty awesome and Anytime i get to see Gilbert Melendez fight I'm usually pleased with how the fight goes. Defiantly a must watch show.

I read Josh Thomson is injured, are you sure he's still on the card?

I heard he was injured also, but then he came out like yesterday and said that the MMA media overreacted and his injury wasn't going to keep him from taking the fight.

This is a solid SF card. Surprised the GP is actually getting a finish seeing how it had a ton of setbacks. I've got showtime now so I'll prob try to catch this live.

Awesome. I just got the Showtime Package this week at my new place, just in time for this show. Really good card.
