Well, whatever, Im sorta bored, and high on WWE, so I figured Id make a random post on the state of WWE. Enjoy or hate
IMO, WWE has been improving alot lately. I can honestly say this though. Since I began comin gon wrestling forums in 2005 (Ive been watching since 1998/9) I have never seen a time when the forum members all liked what WWE was doing. But that;s understandable, because when you have a group of people who can all talk about the product, and have their own ideas on how to make stuff better, and WWE wont be doing thos eideas, so naturally, you wont like the on air product as much. Thats why before I came on forums, I seemed to enjoy WWE alot more, as Im sure everyone did. Anyways, obviously, everyones favorite era was the Attitude Era, and for good reason... But honestly, we will never get that back. So you have to move on, and you cant just hate whats going on now, just cause its not the attitude era. But anyways, in 2005 and 2004, wwe was very good IMO, but then 2006 was a bit of an off year. But sionce then, I have seen great improvements. Sure, its had some lows, but in general I think they're trying to improve, so give credit where its due.
Heres a few points where I notice WWE improving...
Young Guys:
WWE has had a habit of not having as many young wrestlers as it should/could have. But then in 2003ish, they had a whole crew of new guys... Cena, Orton, Batista, Lesnar, etc. But then, they became main event stars, and WWE has lacked some young guys since.
Now, they seem to have a good core of some young guys. I mean, these guys are still green and need time to grow, and probably wont be Orton/Cena/Lesnar level, but a few may, but nonetheless, they can at least be upper mid carders and lower main eventers at some point.
But its goo d to see WWE is at least tring, look at the recent new young guys theyve recruited. Because in 05/06, I couldnt really see any real young (20/21 with room to grow) guys on the roster. but it seems now they have some prospects. Youve got:
Cody Rhodes
Colin Delaney
Elijah Burke
DH Smith
Kofi Kingston
Paul Burchill
Ted Dibiase Jr
Again, I cant say how great these guys will be, but theres potential, and its good to see at least some fresh faces, who can also wrestle, and at least add to the midcard for now, and maybe main event in the future.
Womens Division:
Honestly, I dont give a shit who critisises it, its much better.
WWE has always had a few wrestling divas, but mostly, it was thong contests and wet t shirt contests, and not known for its matches.
But honestly, alot of guys (myself included) like to see some hot divas, and I wouldnt mind seeing some bikini contests some more... And Im sure that will come, but I find right now WWE has a good balance.
You still have eye candy with: Maria, Layla, Kelly Kelly, Candice and Maryse
Sure, those dress skimpy, but who cares, its what alot of the audience wants.
but for those who dont, they also have a great core of good wrestlers, who dont need to dress skimpy, and can put on good matches.
You have: Mickie James, Melina, Beth Phoenix, Natalya, Michelle, Victoria and some others.
Now, Ive noticed some people complaining about outfits they where, but shut the f*ck up. Honestly, all the "wrestling" divas, where proper outfits, being pants and a top. But if they wanted to wear underwear and a bra, who cares, that covers everything and is what they need to wear, just like Batista in his man-thong... But for you stiffs, they wear pants in the ring, and bottom line is, they put on good matches. I dont care if it isnt the same level as TNA, because TNA now has like 3 womens matches per show, and I dont wanna see that. Im happy with wwe's womens division because the matches are above average, and you have eye candy, and also wrestling divas. They have improved ALOT, and I think most people would agree.
Storylines:
Fuck everyone who continues to bitch. you know what... Yes, you loved the attitude era, we get it... But as I said, ou cant keep having that. Now, its partially your fault WWE doesnt have the attitude era style back, Ille xplain. If wwe brought in another austin type character, or a dx type team, which are needed for the attitude era, would you support it? NO. With the internet, you would all call them desperate, and acuse them of copying the past, even though you were the ones who wanted the attitude style back.
Bottom line is, the attitude era cant be repeated without redoing what was sdone before.
So lets move to today.
And the fact is, as of late, WWE is putting in an effort. Some attempts fail, some work, but theyre trying. I mean,we saw a good Y2J return, a good HBK return that noone saw coming, a good HHH/Orton feud, Regal/Kennedy started something, but it wasnt finished, but they still tried, and we had that good Regal going nuts thing.
Yes, some attempts have failed, but at least WWE is trying, and they arent a boring product in my opinion. I mean, some of you didnt like the Regal thing, but why? I hear you always saying wwe needs storylines, so they get some, but thats "weird" or "stupid" accoridng to you guys. But it wasnt bad at all, it was something different. But bottom line is, in general I think the storylines have picked up, and thats good, because this is a show, and its based on entertainment, so good on WWE.
Show Formula:
I know it sounds weird, but yes, I said show formula. This is actually pretty important to have a good show. See, its hard to keep viewers compelled to the show if the show is all over the place. If you have too many matches or segments in a row, or just plain weird setup, its hard to keep an audience. But I think WWE has really done a good job on this. IMO, they set it up well with a good promo to set the tempo for the night, and they have a good balance between the matches and segments lately. Tonight was a great example, where you would have very good matches, and in between each one, you would have a segment or interview, mostly relating to that same Mcmahon thing, and it gave you a running gimmick to the show. It was just entertaining, and IMO, wwe has put together a well rounded show lately.
Now, not everything is all perect of course. And I have to point out a few negatives, and then I will give my verdict on WWE as of now, so heres some negatives...
Tag Division:
Now, this has lacked for a long time, and it still does. Now, I cant overly complain, because WWE is managing to fit all the singles guys onto the show because of the lack of tag teams, but still, I would rather see tag teams then some friggen Vlad Kozlov. WWE doesnt even need to do much to fix this, as they have good teams, they just need to get it through their billiondollar brains that fans like tag action.
Honestly, too much teams can be bad, IMO, TNA has too many teams because they end up having 4 tag matches per show sometimes... But itd be nice to have 1 set of tag titles, and have two matches on sd, 2 on raw and one on ecw per week, and wwe has all the good teams to do this. Look at a potential division...
You could have:
London and Kendrick
Cryme Tyme
The Highlanders
Deuce and Domino
Shannon Moore and Jimmy Wang Yang
Jesse and Festus
Miz and Morisson
Holly/Rhodes
Dibiase Jr/???
That right there would be a great division, and WWE needs to realize it. A good division can help round out the show.
IC Title Situation:
Well, this is pissing me off. The US Title isnt doing bad at all, but the IC title, on Raw, with the best mid card in the company, is the one struggling...
This belt has lost all of its prestige it seems.
Again, they could have a good division with:
Carlito
Chris Jericho
DH Smith
Elijah Burke
Paul Burchill
Santino
and obviously others too.
But it seems, they are so wrapped up with the swollen main event division, they are forgetting about a potentially very good IC Title division.
But instead, Jericho is champ, and not even defending it, or being hunted.
Firstly, they need to move a main eventer off Raw so that it can open up a spot for more IC Title matches.
WWE has a lot of writers, and they need to figure out how to remake this division.
Final Analysis:
Well, as you can see, the positive outweight the negatives, IMO anyways. Now, I had the IC Title and tag division as negatives, but in all honestly, it would be nice to see the divisions fixed, but its not hurting too bad right now. As I mentioned, I am enjoying this hsow greatly lately, much better than in the past, and even though it has somenegatives, they are small negatives that can be slowly fixed, and the positives are huge!
IMO, is WWE improving or declining? Improving.
I see this keeeping up, and I want to say that I am enjoying Raw, now if you made it to the end of this post, I congratulate you, and you may post your thoughts...
