Too bad I couldn't watch ECW but from what I read nothing except for Atlas Ortiz was something worth watching so I won't miss it much.
We can't say they made some of the stars but instead just elevated them but I can argue that its a lot different and a lot better way to bring up a star then the normal WWE way. Look at Morrison, he basically came in as tag, wins tag titles, gets broken up, wins IC title, loses it and then jobs. Instead he went to ECW looked for a personality, worked on his mic skills and showcased more of his wrestling ability. Now he has a huge chance of being a top star.
Its a better approach to bringing up new guys rather than just bringing them in as a tag and hope for one to be a break out star, sometimes it works but 90% of the time it doesn't. Look at Deuce and Domino, I can honestly say that they were one of the biggest waste of time ever because they GAVE them a gimmick instead of them finding their own. That's what ECW is for, right now guys just try things new, look at Miz he was something I wanted off my tv, never wanted to see him, I hated him and now he improved so much.
Really imagine if CM Punk or Kingston would've been brought up the normal WWE way? They would've never came up so fast. So even if ECW doesn't make huge time ratings it makes stars.

I dont think ECW produces stars, I think they give people an opportunity to shine. Kofi isnt a STAR, not yet, but he will be if this continues with him.

miz and morrison will be stars. same for Kofi. Punk is a star. ECW is like a training ground for future "stars." ECW is there to produce stars and i've said this before but ECW is the training ground for Smackdown and in one way Smackdown is a training ground for Raw.

I agree with what Kaedon said - it gives them oppurtunities to succeed. Most of the guys are smaller and probably wouldn't debut on SD or Raw if they weren't going to get a super push. ECW helps them get over with more time to shine. I really haven't seen a successful singles debut in SD or Raw in a long time.

To Kaedon: Yes, actually they do produce "stars". CM Punk is a star, look where just being in ECW has got him, ECW World Champ now World Heavyweight Champ. Miz & Morrison are tag-team champions, even though WWE's tag division sucks that's still something to show for. Kofi WILL be a star. Evan Bourne will become a mid-card star and Atlas Ortiz probley won't get anything above midcard. So yes, they do produce stars

Like some others have said, I believe the only true star ECW has created is back in 2006 when they presented CM Punk to the mainstream. Sure many knew him but in ECW he was presented truly to the world.

Kofi Kingston is not yet a star, however, I think that ECW helped him grow and become something. If he had debuted on Raw or SD, he would be still struggling to pass the comedy babyface lower midcard role.

The point of ECW is to create stars. It's on-air developmental, why can't people see that?

Kofi just got brought up to Raw, his spot has been taken by Atlas. Finlay has gone there to work with theyounger guys coming through, it's really just one step above FCW

Yeah, ECW is pretty much the new OVW...but it's on national TV and considered one of the big brands. Punk = made a big star by ECW, Kofi = kinda big star via ECW, Shelton = died on ECW >_<, Benoit = killed himself because of ECW :gun_rifle:...but seriously. I like watching ECW becasue I know that there's tons of great future champions there.
