*SPOILERS* WWE SmackDown Tapings for 2nd August

[Andrew]

* Michael Cole and Alex Riley are out for commentary.

* Alberto Del Rio is out first. He says John Cena wasted his pick on Daniel Bryan because Cena is scared of him. Del Rio says he's chosen Ricardo Rodriguez as his SummerSlam opponent. Out comes Vickie Guerrero. Vickie makes Rob Van Dam vs. Christian vs. Randy Orton with the winner facing Del Rio at SummerSlam for the World Heavyweight Title.

* Cody Rhodes defeated Jack Swagger with a quick roll-up. After the match, Josh Mathews interviewed Cody but Damien Sandow attacked from behind.

* Sin Cara vs. Big E Langston is up next. Cara went for a springboard but Big E caught him with his finisher for the win.

* CM Punk vs. Fandango is next. Punk gets the win by submission.

* AJ Lee defeated Kaitlyn with the Divas Title on the line. After the match, Layla turned on Kaitlyn and left with AJ.

* Booker T comes out and talks about it being Booker T Day in Houston.

* Christian defeated Rob Van Dam and Randy Orton to become the new #1 contender to the World Heavyweight Title. Christian rolled Orton up for the win after Orton hit a RKO on RVD. SmackDown ends with Del Rio attacking Christian.

Yeah would have thought RVD would have got the shot but hey I'm not gonna complain. Christian/Del Rio works fine for me.

Del Rio initially choosing Ricardo as his opponent is hilarious. I like the way that they determined the number one contender with the triple threat. All three guys had decent claims to a shot and it makes for a quality Smackdown mainevent. I am not surprised that Christian won after the way that they have booked him the past few weeks. RVD will still be on the card, no idea who against but he won't miss SummerSlam.

Fandango getting another match with Punk has me intrigued. Two big matches for him on Smackdown in consecutive weeks.

Decent show and good looking main event.

Have to wonder where that Layla heel turn leaves the women's Division. Can't see Kaitlyn getting another shot as she has no lost couple of times to AJ.

 

[Gimmick]

Good to see Christian get another title opportunity. I wasn't expecting him to get a little push when he came back.

Also pretty happy to see Layla heel again, I think she's much better that way. As Keith said though, I don't know what that means for the Divas division. I can't really think of any faces that could be in line to face AJ for the title. I guess they'll just do the usual and pick a name and run with her for a little while.

Layla turning on Kaitlyn was about as predictable as the IWC imploding their sites if Cena made Bryan tap.

She was pretty much just literally laughing behind Kaitlyn's back everytime AJ talked shit and stopped her from beating her up.
