At Slammiversary Mr Anderson defeated Sting to win the TNA World Heavyweight Championship. Here is a play-by-play description from pwinsider of how it happened;

Sting went for the Scorpion Deathlock but Eric Bischoff came out. Sting was distracted and Anderson caught him with a rolling Samoan Drop for a two count. So much for Hulk Hogan’s speech about no interference and run-ins on Impact!

Sting nailed Anderson for a two count. Sting came off the ropes for a Vader splash but Anderson pulled his knees up for a two count. Anderson went for the Mic Check. Sting fought him off but was caught with a second attempt. Sting kicked up at the last second.

Anderson went to the top rope but was nailed and crotched by the champion. Sting punted him with a series of kicks and nailed a Stinger Splash in the corner. Sting nailed the Scorpion Deathlock and covered Anderson. Bischoff slapped his hand down so Sting thought it was a three count when the referee actually only counted a two. AWFUL. Sting pulled up Anderson who lowblowed him and nailed the Mic Check. Anderson pinned Sting to win the belt.

Your winner and new TNA champion, Mr. Anderson!
The match was OK until the point Eric Bischoff came out. At that point, it was convoluted crap. The way the win went down, it did nothing for Anderson or the title. The story really was that Hogan and Bischoff promised the fans a clean title match and screwed them on that by lying. I would guess this leads into whatever the Sting-Hogan angle is.

The part in bold is one of the silliest finishes I have ever read. Wrestling matters on Impact Wrestling so much that they book dusty finishes on PPV in a match for the top title in TNA! Seriously this is so dumb. They need to stop claiming that they care about wrestling when they book crap like that. Mess around with a lower feud match on an episode of Impact in a match that doesn't involve the title dont do it on the biggest stage. It makes the title mean nothing and it makes the title change mean so much less. At least this wasnt the mainevent on the PPV.

Your thoughts on the finish and the title change?

LOLTNA. Seriously, how do they think booking this crap can do anything to help the company?! That is one of the worse finishes I've heard of ever. I love that since they started the "wrestling matters" tagline they had Eric Bischoff pin a great member of the X Division, and now this. This is worse than the dying days of WCW.

Why does every title change have to have Bischoff involved? This doesn't create that "controversy" Bischoff keeps looking for and only produces apathy towards the product. Anderson winning the belt from Sting should've been a clean finish or it just makes him look weak. So Anderson needed help from an old man who doesn't wrestle to beat another old man? LOLTNA.

That's right, remember they tossed the idea of Sting v Hogan later in the year, this may be more building up of it.
