That's according to a VG247 source, who claims key partners like Ubisoft are already working on games for the unannounced console, while other developers have been invited to PS4 reveal events taking place in May and June in the States.

PS4 specs and design goalposts were apparently in place at least two years ago, and the site says players will be able to control the new console using Vita's twin sticks and touch capabilities.

"Sony are completely in the belief that they have the jump on Microsoft this time," said the source. "You should be watching the timing of next year's E3 keynotes, and who's going to go first."

"Top line publishers already know about it. Developers working with publishers - like Ubisoft, for example - already know what's going on. They're already working on it."

PlayStation Europe boss Jim Ryan said last November that allowing Microsoft to get the jump on PS4 with its next-gen console would be an "undesirable" situation Sony hopes to avoid.

It was claimed earlier today that Microsoft has told third-party developers its next Xbox will feature in-built Kinect and Blu-ray functionality and be available by Christmas 2013.
I'm honestly fully content with my Xbox 360 but by the time these two come out I might be looking for a new console. I might even make the switch from Xbox to PS if the PS4 looks good.

I agree with you. I have a PS3 and have recently been catching up a bit what I've been missing. I have no intention of getting a new console in the next few years.

Yeah the only real reasons to get a new console would be if the Xbox 360 or PS3 went stale or games weren't produced for these consoles anymore. In that case I would have to upgrade.

I will get a PS4 when my PS3 no longer works. And it won't be until it is out for a year or longer when all the kinks are worked out of it.

That blows! I'm not ready for new consoles damnit! Hell, I would never have purchased a current generation console if it wasn't for my ex-wife being so into video games. I was perfectly content with my PS2, and I probably still would be trucking along in MVP Baseball 2005, smashing 150+ homers a season with each player on the Red Sox without a care in the world.
