The crowd didn't want the pipebomb they wanted the rock. I don't blame them at all.

Yeah, pretty much this. While Punk's promo was good, we get to see him week in, week out. But when Rock is in the arena it's something special.

Really awesome work from both guys, Rock works so much better against an actual heel rather than face vs face stuff that he and Cena did. Punk's promo at the start was fantastic, but Rock's was much better IMO.

I have criticized Rock's recent work quite a bit on here, but he was fantastic I think. A perfect blend of catch-phrases, jokes and seriousness. He put Punk and his title reign over pretty well in one of his speeches.

I've not been glued to a promo like that for years...Punk was Awesome, Rock pissed me off a bit when he started naming candies and cookiepuss etc but it was immense.

Did anyone else enjoy it as much as me? That was awesome, I can not wait for this feud to pick up.

The crowd didn't deserve this segment, they were quiet until Rock showed up, when I thought Punk's promo was fantastic to be honest.

The part in bold couldnt be any more true !
I mean for Christ sake the Champ was there, and as usual his mic skills epic.

:pity:

Then Dwayne shows up asking people if they can smell something, and the crowd goes apeshit.
I'm sorry but someone who comes back every year or 6 months for a title shot just doesn't DESERVE it.
I'D RATHER HAVE CENA WIN !!!:upset:

Nah I understand why Rock gets bigger pops and stuff, that's completely natural and expected. But to give Punk no reaction to that peach of a promo at the start was just lame.

Indeed the crowd was very silent for the "pipebomb" at the start. I had no problem with it though since it sold it to me like the crowd was silent and listening to every word Punk said if you catch my drift.

I think they were just focusing on what Punk was saying, because when Punk delivers a promo he doesn't really yell like some other people :hogan: :woo1:

So if you don't pay attention, or make too much noise, you miss out.

I would have no sold Punk's lame rant as well. It was far from great, not sure why all the Punk marks are losing their shit for it.

I think their intention with Punk's promo was for him to antagonize the crowd until they were desperate for him to come out, don't think it worked as well as they expected though.

I think the main reason why everything worked last night is the guys have a clear mutual respect for each other, and their main objective was to entertain the fans. Unlike Cena/Rock they didn't have one guy who was just desperate to get himself over with the fans, and was willing to ruin the fued in order to do so. They weren't taking cheap shots at one other, they were putting over the title, fued, and each other whilst entertaining us in the process. Truly brilliant work from both.

Agreed. Even after Rock's hilarious jokes he put Punk & his reign over perfectly.

One thing though, you can't help but notice how skinny Punk is when he's beside Rock, lol.
