What do you all think of the Smackdown Championship Scramble? I just looked on WWE.com and noticed whom the competitors actually were...
It will be Triple H V Shelton Benjamin V MVP V Jeff Hardy V The Brian Kendrick.
Now this might just be me, but this has to be the most poorly put together Title Match I have seen in a looong time! None of the competitors are near-ready to compete for the WWE Title, let alone be near Triple H.
Triple H is still rolling with some strong-ass momentum, going undefeated in the last few PPVs against Orton, Cena & Khali! Someone who defeats those, with having (apparently, to me) no real momentum loss is going to need either a kick in the crotch over the coming weeks, or a stronger opponent.
Jeff Hardy is the only man in this match whom has had the build up in the past for a championship match of this level. He has competed against the champion (then Orton) for the title and prevailed in a high-quality fued (imo). Destined to win the MiTB last year, he is the only man WWE has actually tried to push to the ME scene.
MVP is kinda close to the right status, however he has been in a lingo over the past couple of months - not being pushed to the ME scene, and not being de-pushed any lower. He hasn't had any real title shots that I can think of off the top of my head, and I think this is a weak way to get him into the title shot.
The Brian Kendrick is a newly formed wrestler! He was part of the infamous Londrick for what, a year or two and has only gone solo in the past month or so! The gimmick is great, but he is NO WHERE FUCKING NEAR title worthy! His size, in comparison makes this the same thing as HHH/Khali (now, Kendrick/HHH respective) except Kendrick hasn't got the build up to make this worthwhile.
Shelton Benjamin. Why? Everyone knows of his problems backstage. I can almost predict he will play the same role as he did in the Royal Rumble of this year - big entrance with a quick and weak end. The guy has had no real momentum lately, sure he's snatched the US Title - but what, a couple of cheap wins, and some losses.
When you look at all these guys, and then compare them to the King of Kings, the Cerebral Assassin, The Game HHH; what the fuck are we supposed to look forward to? HHH getting 20minutes to beat the holy shit out of four other guys?
I am actually angry that WWE have decided to do this. They are basically doing the exact oppoiste thing as RAW; however over there they've got four BIG stars and a weak-ish champ. I think it's dumb to copy this idea and use it for SD's ME as well, the idea sounded good at first but with more definition it's not that great. GAB this year will lack significantly in the ME scene, unless ofcourse Edge/Taker highlights it again.
What are your thoughts on the SD Scramble? Do you think they should've done this as well, and should they have picked some better superstars to star in it? OR should they've gone with a different, normal approach? Maybe a 1V1, a triple threat (Khali/HHH/Hardy)?
