WWE taped the May 5th, 2016 SmackDown episode from Kansas City, Missouri.

– Chris Jericho opens the show with a Highlight Reel segment. Jericho cuts a promo about putting Dean Ambrose in the hospital. This led to Jericho bringing out Sami Zayn. They’re interrupted by Miz and Maryse. Jericho gets mad and walks out. Zayn and Miz get into a brawl, and this sets up a match between the two stars.
– Singles Match: Sami Zayn defeated The Miz by DQ. Kevin Owens was on commentary for this match. The finish came when Owens attacked Zayn and laid him out. Cesaro ran down to the ring and made the save. He stood tall with the IC Title to end the segment.
– Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson spoke with AJ Styles backstage. They told Styles that he would have to extreme if he wants to beat Roman Reigns at Extreme Rules. Styles agreed and said that it’s time he had a little chat with Reigns.
– Tag Team Match: The Vaudevillains defeated Bo Dallas and Curtis Axel. Post-match, Big Showwalked down to the ring and took The Vaudevillains out with powerbombs.
– Tag Team Match: Natalya and Becky Lynch defeated Emma and Charlotte when Emma tapped to the Sharpshooter.
– Styles found Reigns backstage and asked if Reigns plans on getting involved in The Usos vs. Gallows and Anderson match later in the show. Reigns said that he’s the champion, so he will do what he wants.
– Singles Match: Rusev squashed Zack Ryder. Post-match, Kalisto runs down and attacks Rusev. This led to Rusev retreating to the back.
– There was a backstage segment with Fandango, Goldust, R-Truth and Tyler Breeze dancing.
– There is a backstage segment with Darren Young and Bob Backlund. Young asked Backlund to be his life coach. Their new catchphrase is “Make Darren Great Again.”
– Tag Team Match: Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson vs. The Usos ended in a DQ when Anderson kicked Roman Reigns outside of the ring. This led to a big brawl and our main event.
– Six-Man Tag Team Match: Roman Reigns and The Usos defeated Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson and AJ Styles when Reigns speared Anderson for the pin. Reigns and Styles had a staredown to close the show.
