lfgany soft shit. getting marked down this week. im expecting METAL ENTRANCES. not softies
I feel like Booty and I may have to host a Metal 101 class in the lecture halls this summerTells you how bad I am with this... when I saw Hells Bells was in I thought "damn, there's a huge favorite to win this round already"
I agree but ac/DC has never been cited as metal on any radio channel in my near 40 years on this earth and definitions matterEh... hard rock, heavy metal... it's a fluid border between them.
Nothing has ever made me question what I thought I knew about genres than battle of the songsTells you how bad I am with this... when I saw Hells Bells was in I thought "damn, there's a huge favorite to win this round already"
I think, for me, it's a question of tempo, vibe and drums. AC DC is a rock n roll happy vibe, the drums are slow and all basic 4x4 tempo. They never play that fast , the drums are not being hit aggressively , etc...now obviously there's exceptions to every genre, and a lot of artists blend genres. But I just don't get metal vibes whatsoever from them. You can look at older bands like Sabbath and Ozzy, the vibe is clearly different than a party atmosphere. The lyrics also play a big part. Metal tends to be much darker, brooding and hits a lot of uneasy subjects. AC DC talks about rocking and fucking bitches for the most part. typical rock.
Van Halen I agree on, ACDC not so much. Van Halen has that classic Hair Metal style (fast beat, ultra fast solos similar to Ozzy). I get your point though, it's valid enough.Which is why when I started this I said hard rock would be fine. Cuz Hair Metal is more hard rock than metal and bands like Van Halen and AC/DC are very much in that middle ground. But Journey isn’t even close to that.
