:LOL1: seriously though, El Generico: his name explained his whole gimmick.

Yep he was Generic, what's much more generic than Sammy Sane lol? It's so typical WWE shit it kind of works, I'd be down for Sammy Same to make the homage a bit more obvious but yeah he'll be a dope midcard act either way.

Claudio wasn't a ring name though. He legit is named Claudio Castagnoli.

Exactly, he didn't have to change his real name to complement his gimmick. If his real name was John Smith, you can bet your ass he'd change it to something more European-y.

Only smarks would get the reference though. To everyone else he's just a red headed guy with a stupid name.

About the Sammy Sane stuff, it is basically the WWE trying to own the wrestlers, and have a creative control over their character.

The same can be said for the generico name lol, anyway who knows him as Generico will mark for him as it's impossible not to, anyone else won't care.

People could figure out that name Generico references being generic. How would the surname Same accomplish that?

What's all the same? Are you saying they're going to come out and say it? If he just debuts no one will get it.

Sammy SAME.

Same = Generic = Nothing makes you stand out as it's all the Same

Am I expressing this right? It's all about being unoriginal so nothing stands out about you right?

I understand what you're saying, but will the casual audience correlate his name with that without it being explained?

:dawg: I'd say so, I think they'll understand "same" a lot more than "generic." Bare in mind alot of these fans are kids so they'll not care either way as long as he's jumping around and kicking people. Hopefully he has a catchphrase as simple as "OLE" to use, it could get over on a larger scale.

That is up to the performer as well. He needs to showcase the character and get people to understand what he is about. It's basic Heyman logic.

Who is this guy? Why should I care about him?

Yahoo would be a good catchphrase :dawg:

Suicide? No. That ship has sailed. He awesome once, but please no.

Another masked character though? :yes::yes::yes:

TNA needs someone masked ASAP, IMO. Rubix (Jigsaw) is the perfect dude to pull it off.

Rubix was great. I loved his matches in 2011, when there was a contract thing.

Go watch him in Chikara then under his "real name", Jigsaw. If you like his TNA stuff you are bound to love his Chikara work.
