This thread is kinda late considering it's almost over but this week is Shark Week and I'd like to know what you guys thought of it. Personally, I never got the hype for it, I get bored watching most of the shows and I don't understand how people can just watch sharks for days. I get the fascination with them, I just don't enjoy Shark Week near as much as most people seem to. With that said, this commercial was fucking hilarious:

I'm not a big fan of it either. I'm really done with sharks for awhile after I saw that ridiculous Sharknado movie anyways.

My Brother was livin' with a roommate though once that loved Shark Week and he even put posted notes on his TV SO NO ONE FUCK WITH HIS SHARK WEEK RECORDINGS while he was at the convenience store. I would have messed with it but I couldn't figure out his complicated remote.

I don't watch much of it, but I figure it's the same every year.

Don't understand the fascination at all. Sharks kill, on average, around six people worldwide each year. Only six yet people are so frightened by them. You are 4000 times more likely to be killed by lightning than a shark, where is Lightning Week?

I only ever see part of Shark Week when Discovery Channel shows that I already watch do a theme episode so mainly the Mythbusters episodes and I think Mike Rowe did something on Dirty Jobs about it.

Sharks kill at least 6 people a year just in Western Australia...be interesting to know what the real figure is.

They kill on average six people worldwide per year, some years it may be in double digits other years it might be just one or two but on average it is six worldwide. They don't kill anywhere near six a year in WA, from the stats I can find 7 people were killed in total between 2005 and 2012 in WA, can't find stats for this year. Overall in Australia there have been 216 fatal shark attacks since 1791 which is when records began, so an average of about one per year over the past two centuries.
