It will only become a case of audience manipulation if the WWE booksI don’t see this one as a manipulation given the fact that Roman had this for 11 years in secret and kept doing his thing. Mad respect for the guy. I don’t like his WWE character, but I have major respect for him now.
He now started to talk about it because he needs to do treatment and can’t do that effectively while having the crazy, busy schedule as champ. Plus, he’s getting older and is now in “veteran” WWE status, which always makes things harder.
The point is that I don’t think this one was to get cheers, rather the guy just came out to tell the truth and wanted to raise awareness for his health issue. That’s it. It doesn’t mean I’m going to cheer for him, but I’m also not going to feel like fans were “manipulated” if they decide to cheer for him now. They’re cheering out of respect. It’s their choice and who cares?
it as such...and lets be honest about this situation...the WWE has done
nothing but try to manipulate the audience as far as Roman Reigns &
the reactions he gets.
I have to explain that for me there is a still a disconnect between the
man Leati Joseph Anoaʻi & the character he portrays on television.
As a fellow human being...I want him to make a full recovery & live
a long life for his family, friends & fans...but...as far as the character
he portrays on television...nothing for me has changed.
Those who wish to support & "cheer" for Roman now are welcome
to do so...that's their choice...the same way its been my choice since
the Royal Rumble 2017 not to watch anything he is involved with.
Its not a case of actually hating the man himself...its a case of the
WWE trying so hard to make me like this guy that my "default setting"
is to simply ignore him.
And for the record...No...I didn't watch his promo on this past episode
of RAW...I simply read about it in the thread on this forum.
Call me a pathetic, cynical bastard (which I am) but I just worry
that the WWE will try and use & milk this situation for all its worth
to achieve their main goal which they have been trying to achieve
for the last 4 & half years now...and in my opinion...that would be
a simple continuation of Roman's overall terrible booking which
started pretty much as soon as the Shield broke up the first time.
