Anybody else notice Mihael Cole constantly hyping up Batista/Undertaker as the greatest rivalry in smackdown history?
Well obviously, its just that... hype.
But it got me thinking, is it really the greatest feud in SD history?
If not, what could be?

Keep in mind, its just for Smackdown, and superstars who were on smackdown for the whole feud (not raw and SD)

Ill think about my answer and post later....

I think imo that it was the MVP/ Matt Hardy rivalry although it is probably the greatest underrated rivalry in SD history
.

This is actually an interesting thread. The only thing I can think of at the moment is Eddie vs Rey (based on match quality). I can't really think of a hugely epic feud.

Anything with Batista isn't greatest anything. I don't know how Michael Cole could say that with a straight face. Plus way before you had better feuds in SD. The first one that come to mind is Brock Lesnar vs. Eddie Guerrero, in my mind the best one was Eddie Vs. Rey.

No, to me too SD rivalries stand out.

Brock Lesnar vs Kurt Angle

and lets not forget about Hulk Hogan vs McMahon.

Big Show and Brock also had alot of great moments as well.

There are a ton of rivalries that out weigh Taker vs. Batista in SD History.

Undertaker vs. Mr. McMahon
Brock Lesnar vs. Kurt Angle
Hulk Hogan vs. Mr. McMahon
Eddie vs. Rey
Chavo vs. Rey
JBL vs. John Cena
Randy Orton vs. Undertaker

Sure Batista and Taker is one of the best, but it damn sure isn't the best.

Brock's feuds were pretty good. I always remember Smackdown in the early yeasr though, with Rock vs HHH.

Oh crap, I meant to put Matt Hardy vs. MVP on there, it was pretty good as well. All of Taker's fueds were good, you know, all those random ones where losers would screw Taker out of a title match making him lose and just piss him off.

Orton - Undertaker was decent too.

Yea I put Orton and Taker in my top 10 SD fueds, it was pretty cool, they spread it out the whole year, IMO, that out did Taker and Batista by a mile, plus the Cowboy Bob run ins were priceless. The hell in a cell was better than Taker and Batista because it didn't have interference

Undertaker/Orton was awesome too ( as others said)... I liked it alot because It went on a long tyime, even when Orton was on Raw... Then it got dropped off for a while while Orton was injured ( I think) and then when he got drafted to SD, he screwed Taker and then they had a whole new battle, including HIAC...
But looking back, one of my favoirites was JBL vs Cena, because it had a big match feel at Mania and it helped launch Cena, all while keeping up JBL's momentum.

EDIT(after reading XBA's...
Ya, lmao, I forgot about cowboy bob. That was great... And as you said, great HIAC. For some reason I didnt like Taker/Batista HIAC... Just didnt find it that entertaining, til the last 15 minutes or so.

Batista/Taker is one of the best recent rivalries on Smackdown but it isn't the best of all time in any aspect. Brock Lesnar and Kurt Angle had a pretty decent feud and it would be one of the best just coming in line with Hulk Hogan/ McMahon but the best would be either Randy Orton and the Undertaker or JBL/John Cena as both had major superstars involved and had a good storyline. I would say both of them outweigh Batista/Undertaker.

I know I'll sound crazy here. But I really think the Rey Mysterio/Matt Hardy fued was the best in SD history. Does anyone remember that? 2003. It ended in a Main Event match in San Diego for the Cruserweight Title that Mysterio couldn't get. He went at it with Hardy since Mania in March and lost there...he keep going for the belt but keeps losing. He finally captures the belt in his home town. The match in San Diego was a 5* match and if you ever get a chance to watch it...please do because you won't be dissapointed.

I liked the Randy Orton/Undertaker rivalry it was really good. Some great matches, that made Randy a real superstar in the industry. Cowboy Bob Orton getting involved was great as well.

However, another feud that I REALLY liked, no, not Batista/Undertaker. The Undertaker and Mr. Kennedy. I really liked this one. A lot of great promos were in this one that made Smackdown! really fun to watch. There matches were great at the pay-per-views as well. No Mercy, Survivor Series and Armageddon. All great matches. IMO, that was the feud of the year in 2006, and if not the greatest, ONE of the greatest feuds in Smackdown! history. That's just my personal opinion on is however.
