It's probably easier for WWE to sell Jinder beating other guys who are considered lower card guys since Jinder was once such a player.
It'd be easier to sell him that way BEFORE he won the title. When you're the Champion; you should be facing guys of decent caliber regardless of where you were before winning the title.
