From LA Times:

Syfy Channel has pinned a deal for "Smackdown."
World Wrestling Entertainment Inc's "Smackdown," which for years was a mainstay on the UPN and CW networks before moving to News Corp.'s My Network TV, is now headed to NBC Universal's Syfy Channel, people close to the situation said.

A deal, which will be announced later this week, further solidifies the growing relationship between NBC Universal and Vince McMahon's WWE. Syfy already carries the show "NXT," which is a reality program featuring wannabe wrestlers trying to make it to the big leagues of WWE. NBC Universal's USA cable channel also carries WWE programming including "WWE Raw."

Although terms were not disclosed, My Network TV was shelling out roughly $20 million a year for "Smackdown." Syfy's price tag is believed to be closer to $30 million a year.

Although "Smackdown" is more than 10 years old, it still does very well with men, particularly the 18-34 demographic, and generally averages about 3.5 million viewers overall. "Smackdown" will continue to air on Friday nights when it moves to Syfy later this year, most likely in either late September or early October.

YAY! No more delaying SD due to high school basketball!

That has got to suck for people without cable. SD! has always been on network television and now they are switching to SyFy, which even on a good percent of cable or satellite providers, SyFy needs to be ordered through an extended package. I wonder how that will affect the viewers for SD.

They need to seriously switch days with this. I am sorry but where I am from people who are home on a Friday night and aren't doing something socially are the losers.

Thank god, they're about 2-3 years late from being switched off that fucking shitty ass trash network. And yeah, SWITCH BACK TO THURSDAYS. PLEASE.

This. I have to tivo Smackdown every week since I'm never home. Moving it to Thursday would be cool since TNA isn't there anymore, gives me something to watch.

I'd mark if SD finally went back to Thursday.

A SD move to a new day would be great. Fridays are never good for me to catch it anyways, hence like you guys mentioned, Thursdays would be perfect!

It airs on Fridays because there's nothing on that day but Thursdays? CSI, Grey's Anatomy, FlashForward, Survivor, The Office, they'll get stomped in the ratings.
